No recustomization?

Well, No one knows why except for the developers. It's perfectly reasonable to change normally permanent things when you have a virtual person, but the devs simply said "no".

I think it's cuz it's an RPG. They're encouraging you to make a reason for the scars you put on, or a meaning for the tattoo. Back story makes the game more immersive, more immersion = better.

It's funny because It's an FPS.

Yeah, I like to give my character a background that spans through the game, so if I get kill by being knifed I'll probably add a scar onto my character.

OT: The reason why the game locks your skin colour, face, tattoos, and scars is because they want you to think "is this what I want to look like?". The same thing you should ask when you get a tattoo.

Yeah, but each character you have gains abilities as he levels up, with only 20 possible abilities max per character, so each character you have will be unique, not only in appearance, but in what skills/passive abilities he has. That is very RPG-like.

It gives you more incentive to customize all 10 character

Eh...I think it'd be better to give you one character and allow you to solely base your interest on him. That way it gives you more a RPG feel and not just a, "Oh, I need my heavy with the goggles".

Just my two cents.

One more thing with the multiple characters are the ability builds, not just the looks

Eh, still, the point stands. In stead of investing interest into one character (which admittedly most people will probably do by instinct) itll be a whole variety of diffenet loadouts and characters that are in fact just "fit-ins" to fill certain roles when needed. One problem I have with kit games. But thats another rant. Either way I can't change what theyre doing I just know I'd prefer folks to level and rank one individual character that can truely call their own. Just me.

The real question is, why not? ;)

I like it, although it's something I find easier to accept when there are more options for the locked in items.

Another issue this presents is unlockable Tattoos.

Let say I begina character, I'm really liking him as I rank up. Then I unlock these really awesome tattoo and level 5 lets say...but I already have a tattoo on him. Not I have to start an entirely new character...not cool.

See?

I don't know about you, but I do want to create 6 characters at the most.

The first 4 will have a solid one class set up with the rest of the ability points be in the Universal category such as Silent Running, Sprinting Reload, Battle Hardened, and Supply Max Increase.

Then the last 2 will be combinations of two classes. Like Medic and Soldier. Engineer and Operative. Whatever works best with a Universal ability that can work for both classes.

I don't think a Jack of all trades is going to get the most out of a team. A team consist of all things already, with each person having a sort of specialty in one department the most. If you're a jack of all trades, you are just 1/2 to 1/4 a person you are running with that has all the abilities of that corresponding class.

Heck, even if I CAN switch body types, doesn't mean I can switch abilities. Which means I can make 2 more double class characters to top off to 8 characters to make. Does that sound a lot? Yes. But that doesn't escape the fact that I'm having fun and I enjoy doing so. Getting the most out of Brink and what the Developers works hard on.

This is my opinion, so you have the right to say your peace.
There isn't a point to rant when the game is already made and finished and being played right now. We just have to adjust, wear the big boy pants and just move on. Like the other shoots before us that we adjusted.

But above all, this is how I want to play the game I bought with my own money.

From what I understand and see, you start with all scars and tattoos, only ones you don't have are the pre-order pack ones

if you are worried about picking the wrong look, then either make anew character, or when making your character, start with a resistance model, immeidalty go shirtless and choose the smallest pants, then choose your tattoos and scars before picking anything else, just so you get an oonobstructed view. that's what i am going to do when i make my first character.

see this is why i want to be able to add or remove anything on my character. if i have a tattoo on my lower arm then later on can i change the tattoo to different one on my lower arm? if i have a scar on my face can i replace it with another scar later on in the same place on my face?

I hate being stuck basing my focus on one guy because I create a very deep mindset about my characters and then when something doesn't fit him I want the option to give it to someone else. That's why I like party based RPGs (where you develop the whole party) sometimes. I always end up making multiple guys with none being my "main" so that I can play various ways when I'm feeling it. Being stuck with one often causes people to develop something more rounded, which may not really be the best course of action.

None of my 10 will be "fit-ins" but rather unique options for me to use. I'll have my lights, heavies, mediums, medics, engineers, soldiers, ops, resitance guys, security guys, and characters designed for multiple roles, all for options when I feel like playing a different way.

As far as tatoos being locked in, maybe if you plan on having a main you should make your first guy your "throw away" just to unlock everything with and then build your main second. I get wanting the option, but I get them not giving it to you as well.
