No recustomization?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:02 pm

I just noticed in a customization video that it hard locks things like tattoos and scars onto characters. Why?

It's not like you can rip off a tattoo for a new one.

Tattoos, Scars, Voice Packs, Face, that's all permanent.

That doesn't answer the question of why, or for what end?

It's no sim, also this may just be for the campaign. I duno for sure.

Well, No one knows why except for the developers. It's perfectly reasonable to change normally permanent things when you have a virtual person, but the devs simply said "no".

I would imagine that it is either locked on because when you make the character, that's your character. The only way to change the way he physically looks would be to delete him and make a new one.
If you CAN change the aesthetics of your body, then I'd imagine it will be a helluva lot easier to manage your characters.
That's just my opinion though.

If you could re-customize your character from scratch over and over again why have multiple characters? Something has to be permanent, and I think it's good that your face and skin colour is permanent, then the scars and tattoos are just things they felt like making permanent becuase of.. Well, you can't really remove a blind eye - just adds a little more weight to your character(s), I mean.. You don't have to choose a tattoo from the begining, nor a scar :P

Gonna say outright that I love the idea of the permanent customisations. Personally, I think that body type should be permanent as well, and you just have multiple chars' but hey :P

Still, it does seem a bit wierd that they chose to do it, simply on the basis of logic. The rest of the game is strictly bound to hyper-realism, so doesn't make sense to have this feature for the sake of 'realism'.

Still, thumbs up :)

Yea, I won't say I hate the idea, I'll just say it's a gamble of a choice, since players are used to running through various customizations. For example, I constantly change purely aesthetic components on any of my avatars in whatever game, within the space of a few minutes even.

I probably won't be giving my character any tattoos unless i really really like the design.

I think it's a nice change though, kudos for being so bold Devs.

Yeah, I don't get why the body types aren't permanent.. I wanted this too :l

And bullets kill in this game, that's realistic :P

I wish bodytypes were permanent as well. I would have 3 of each body type and probably one extra medium or light. If they had permanent bodytypes you would think more carefully about your abilities to be better compatible with your bodytype.

Might have to take an out and not buy Brink, then. I can always play Dystopia for the same gameplay.

Don't worry, there is a special Resistance Archetype for you, it's called ''The Lost'' and it's a pilot jacket with a fur collar and some soft-pants with slippers

I don't think I've seen this question before, so I'll ask it here since the thread is an appropriate one: Can you choose to skip getting a tattoo when creating a character, and instead give one to him later on once you have unlocked a few more? Or MUST you pick a tattoo as soon as the character is created?

You can get the tattoos and scars later, don't worry :P I checked the latest customization video to see this, and I could still see the ''body tattoo'' option when he scrolled past it, so.. yeah

And I think you get all scars and tattoos from the start

Tats are permanent because well, in real life they are except for laser removal.......

Your face is permanent because your real face is permanent without major surgery.

You voice is permanent because your real one is too.

Your skin color is permanent for the same reason.

That's why.
