Not long ago I started having a " problem " with my characters.

My gun turrets too.

All my things turn RED.

My turrets, my companion ( currently MacCready ), just about all moving things turn red. I've also seen a couple of times when they were GREEN!!!

I am not doing this on purpose and have no idea why it is happening.

I thought at first the turrets needed repair but that doesn't seem to be the problem.

Anyone else had this?

BTW I have the latest drivers got an update this morning even but it didn't stop the red color.

Are you wearing power armor? Did you upgrade your power armor to highlight living targets in red? (HUD upgrade)

I wear PA periodically when I run into tough opponents but, as far as I know, I didn't tell it to highlight them.

And it isn't just targets it's all my gun turrets and crops and companions .... just about everything except the landscape and houses etc. etc.

And it isn't always red.

It just seems to come on and then eventually it will be back to normal.

And I'm pretty sure it happens when not wearing PA too. I will take notes next time as to where I am, what I'm doing etc. but I < know > it survives trips via Fast Travel. Start red / end still red.

I don't even know HOW to tell the game to outline opponents in colors.

Sounds like either a power armor HUD with the appropriate mod, or you run around munching berry mentats or something.

Yep, turns out it < was > a power armor helmet.

Had a targeting helmet but once I took it off and put it back on the stuff was no longer red.

Don't know what I did to activate it. Not a bad feature now that I know it isn't my video card going ape [censored] or something like that.

I had the same bug a while back where everbody was still red even after I took off the PA helmet. Reloaded and it went away. It's a thing.

If this particular shader gets stuck, it can be fixed by removing all weapons and armor that you have equipped. Empty your hands and get naked. Also switch from 1st to 3rd person a few times to be sure it's gone.

(Then you can get dressed again. If you want to.)
