Red Dead Redemption #16

Post » Mon Jan 25, 2010 12:44 pm

I FINALLY GOT IT 2 DAYS AGO! I looked and I have already played for 11 hours It is so awesome! I usually take people alive cause it pays more.

I experienced this odd glitch where any horses tied to a Buggie, or a carrage would have their lages stuck half way in the ground and could not move, I just rebooted my Xbox and it fixed it.

So, I don't know why (perhaps because of the patch?), but the Mo van Baar bounty finally appeared in Armadillo, so I was able to get my Deadly Assassin's outfit. It's pretty awesome, especially with the bandanna equipped. I feel like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY9hb9FkCm0. :shifty:

Since people got make a big deal out of a question and get my thread closed here i ask why is deadlus and son stranger mission not working i have all materials and it still wont work.

Once you give him all of the materials you have to wait a few days for him to finish. Then you can go back and complete it.

Well, I just put my copy of RDR up for sale on Ebay. It was fun for a few hours, but after that really just got repetitive. Most of the missions followed the same formula, and there just wasn't a whole lot to do outside of that. After you expect dragging people and leaving them out to die, it just gets a bit boring.

Finally beat the game.

Spoiler
Not sure how I feel about the ending. Very emotional. First thing I did was ride into Blackwater throwing molotoves on buildings and shooting everybody in sight. I then proceeded to do the final mission. I killed Edgar's wife and brother, and then I shot that [censored] in the head multiple times. Very satisfying.

Finally beat the game, too. I must say, while a very good ending, it's also
Spoiler
a very sad ending. The scene where Jack and Abigail, standing by John's grave transitions into Jack standing by both his parents' graves just three years later was a real downer. I just felt like if I were Jack, where on Earth could I possibly find the will to do anything with myself after this, and this feeling even more so after killing Ross. Sure, it made me feel better to kill the bastard, but the feeling was fleeting at most. Afterward, I was left with that same emptiness -- like it didn't change a thing.

Anyone else notice that at the end of "I Know You" the last scene where the man says "This is a beautiful spot, don't you think?" is the same spot where John is buried

ooooo. I hadn't noticed that. I'd completely forgot about him. That's pretty cool. Also explains why you can't do that quest after the MQ

This game is lacking way too much in both SP and MP. I can't believe I traded FO3 and ME2 for it :banghead:

Fallout 3, really? =O That's my favorite game.

But I just popped in Red Dead Redemption yesterday to pick up the second social club challenge, hopefully the co-op missions will help draw you back in. =)

0.o OK I may trade ME2 in for it, but FO3, nope. Dont worry new vegas will be out soon this year, then after that you may not care about FO3.

So, I was listening to the soundtrack today, head Far Away, and couldn't for the life of me ever remember hearing this song in the game (good song, by the way; good soundtrack and music choices in general). So I looked up which scene it was in and found out
Spoiler
it's the song that's supposed to play when you get to Mexico. In my game though, when I got to Mexico, I didn't get the chance to experience such an epic moment. All that happened was the typical ambient Mexico track started playing (the one with little guitar strums here and trumpet flares there, etc.). Now that I know about it, I'm sad that I didn't get to hear this song playing the first time I got the Mexico.

I'm probably the only person this happened to, but I remember when I was riding to
Spoiler
Beecher's Hope after killing Dutch, and the cool song started playing, I thought it would ruin the moment to pause the game to put the 'gps' on. Of course, this lead to me getting lost, so the song ended while I was still lost high up in the mountains rather than arriving home :brokencomputer:

You're not actually. I did the same thing, and ended up going what I thought was the wrong way that led to a dead end (when in fact it wasn't a dead end, and if I had kept going would have emerged into the great plains area, a few hundred feet from the destination) and so I turned around and tried to find my way back through the mountains, amidst all the wolves trying to attack me, and a bear. Oh, and the UPS guy got here right then, so I ended up having to pause it anyway. :sadvaultboy:

It was still great though.

I only just found out you could get newspapers, so I only have the last issue (I've completed the MQ) - is there anyway to get the previous issues in the same game?

Not that I know of. My newspaper is actually kind of glitched. I have one chance to read the updated newspaper when I buy it. After that, if I go to my inventory and try to read it, it always shows the very first edition I bought at the beginning of the game instead of the latest edition I bought.

Also, you really didn't miss a whole lot. Aside from references to your actions throughout the MQ, there are some ads and other unrelated stories. Some of them are quite funny though.

Spoilers regarding the ending of the game.
Spoiler
I went and killed Ross, sparing his family. He killed John just for medals, and only went after Dutch to kill all the Natives following him. After killing Ross I rode to svckosa to become a defender of the people just like Landon Ricketts. Also, whilst i felt that John's sacrifice at the end was quite poetic, it was very frustrating to watch a character i had played as for many hours walk to their doom and not be able to do anything.
