Terrible. All i can say.
Saw this couple days ago, was explained, never cared. Staged performances happen all the time.
People want a show, not a genuine performance. Too many things that could go wrong in a live gig. That's sadly how it is.
I don't know why anyone would be surprised by this.
The NFL doesn't care about artistic endeavors or music. They were only worried about making money.
At least the band is upfront about their decision, and were just trying to have the best sound quality for the fans.
IIRC, Flea said they did it because the cold distorts the sound on live string instruments, right? ( I only vaguely read the article a few days ago.)
The NFL said the band could only play if they pre-recorded everything except the vocals. They needed it to be perfect. (due to time restraints, quick stage changes, and the expensive time slot.)
The band decided it was worth playing this special event, even if they couldn't be fully "live."
Cold cause strings to go out of tune. Metals contract and expand when subjected to cold and heat. So, you may tune up and then through playing the strings go out of tune as they heat up. not that they haven't played shows in hot or cold.
anyway, Why is anyone surprised that the superbowl isn't a true live performance? They have a lot of money riding on the halftime show and don't want extra variables. also, they dont have the time for a full stage set up and sound check and all of that.
I have been to lots of concerts, most of which do not start on time, and it's due to equipment like guitars or amps or whatever not being ready. Sure the delays were small, maybe a few minutes, I think the worst was the band was out on stage for about 5 minutes as they got things sorted, and they kind of joked around with the crowd. At a concert that is 40 to 90 minutes long, this is no big deal.
For a Halftime show where they have maybe 10 minutes total in stage, and this is a stage that needs to be set up and broken down in minutes, I can't see them taking the risk that an instrument or amp was not connected up right and delaying the show. His voice was live, and it needs to be for a duet, and that was enough for me. If all of it was taped or lip synced, then it would be different.
Personally, I'm not surprised nor am I upset.
Any rock band would easily fake it if asked to play the Super Bowl. It's thee stadium show of all stadium shows.
Because they have such a short time to set up for the half time show, it makes sense that they would not play live. There are too many risks, and there are tens of millions of people watching.
If you were asked to play the super bowl, would you turn it down if they asked you to mime your performance?
My girlfriend could tell it was fake just by looking at the bass/guitar.
Meanwhile, I was accusing Bruno of trying to re-enact Limp Bizkit.
Don't see the big deal. It was short halftime performance, not some concert.
Someone is always dead for what you are doing is what my grand pa always used to say. it doesnt make us right and it doesnt make them wrong. but thats just the fact, we are in a world where we must perpetuate a standard through all standards, even when along the way each standard perpetuates worse than the original notion. it is beyond adam and beyond eve.. we are who we are. like it or not. no ones going to do anything about it. with this days technologies... there is a widespread film of all of us locked to the same tyrades of dilludance and wrongful saturation. not one nor not all could break this wrong done. but sure enough, those who can, they will, and for waht it is, i swear to you no one else will follow.. and on again we will go.. lost amongst ourselves for whatever reason it fits to do so.
There is only this, no one can complain for what it counts, chances are if you could, that complaint wouldnt exist to begin with.
Ill be here anyone, if you got any problems you want to talk about.
In other news: when characters are killed in plays the actors aren't really dead (usually). Magicians don't really saw people in half (usually). Scandalous, I know.
It was a logistics/practicality issue. This is done quite often. I don't see what the big deal is. None of the viewers paid for a ticket to see the 'Peppers live. It's a halftime show, and the band was obviously not seriously attempting to dupe anyone.
