Redcoat Ghouls

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 5:08 am

No just the redcoat ghoul and the two redcoats in the concept art, the second picture (of the pair of redcaots) could of course be art for the museum or a sign of a redcoat faction no real way to tell at this point.

The picture is VERY blurry, but its someone in a redcoat named John Hancock.

Thanks for clearing that up. Everyone talking about it like it's a confirmed thing with an actual name thrown in there confused me.

The picture is so blurry, I cannot even confirm who it is beyond the red coat and tricorne......so its most likely the redcoat ghoul, but beyond that we know next to nothing about who he is, or what group (if any) he represents.

If I had to hazard a guess I would say it's an opposing faction to the Sons of Liberty, if they even exist. Would be very fitting.

Quite possibly, I'd assume the minutemen originally looted the museum for their 'uniform' so perhaps a rival faction looted the Redcoats. I doubt there is any real connection to the Revolutionary War beyond a couple of local rival gangs seeking to stand out, like the Diamond City guards dressing in baseball gear. Aside from the Institute there is no governing faction for Boston and the Institute supposedly cares very little about what happens beyond their own areas of control and the escapying Synths......so any idea of freedom and liberty probably has to do with the Railroad and rights for Synths, rather than political struggles.

Also, apparently John Hancock signed his name the largest because he "didn't want King George to have to use his spectacles to see his name". Good guy John, sticking it to the man.

I'm pretty sure (like 90% sure) John Hancock is a

Spoiler
ghoul companion, based on the icon for the "Never Go It Alone" trophy/achievement. There's a pretty clear silhouette of him (or, at the very least, another redcoat figure); along with Preston, Piper, a Protectotron robot, and someone who is seemingly wearing ninja-esque garb. I'm also pretty sure just based on what I've been hearing, from...places.

Anachronisms rebranded in a fictious dystopian future can be very tasteful.

I rather like the idea of people of the future attempting to re-identify themselves with historical references - seems like a natural human reaction.

Well...have you ever been the first to sign an office birthday card, and you didn't realize how many coworkers would be signing, so by the time it gets around to the last person, they only have space for a very tiny signature compared to yours?

...Is that why I sometimes hear people "Signing their John Hancock" in movies? Because he was the first to sign the Declaration of Independence?

Total fridge logic moment right here. I never put that together.

Oh, you can have a reason for everything.

It doesn't make it less silly though.
