Redguard Nord alliance

Post » Sun May 18, 2014 9:42 pm

I know this should probably be in the lore section, but over there there are only two or three lore masters who sit in the dark and occasionally come out, resulting in barely three replies. So, I thought I'd post here.

Do you think that if Skyrim was led by Ulfric, an alliance between Hammerfell would be made? Would Hammerfell's king and Ulfic create an alliance to beat off the empire and crush the elves? I think the Redguards and Nords would make a great combo. What are your thoughts on this matter? Do you see it happening?

Doesnt seem that impossible. Two warrior cultures coming together to beat back the elves who threaten them. But I dont see them fighting against the Empire longer than needed. They just want them out of their lands but dont want to destroy the Empire completely.

The enmity between the Forebears, Crowns and Lhotunics in Hammerfell would have to be surmounted first.

It remains within the realm of possibility, but the chances of it happening within a reasonable time frame are less than some would have you believe.

Better than chances of Hammerfell allying with or rejoining the Empire.

Probably a good thing that no Imperial leader is boasting about doing just that then, right?

Don't see why either side would really bother invading the Empire. It'd mostly be a waste or resources better used to take on Alinor and the rest of the Dominion.

It's definitely possible, but I wonder if it's necessary. The Redguards have pretty much won the Thalmor by now so I don't think they will even really need Ulfric's help unless they plan on escalating the war when the Dominion attacks Cyrodiil. But I don't think Ulfric would think twice if Hammerfell requested his help.

I don't think the Empire would enter a conflict with Hammerfell or Skyrim if they lose the civil war, alliance or not.

This boggles my mind. Imperials will say that Hammerfell can destroy the Thalmor on their lonesome, but woe to the Stormcloak who thinks Skyrim can do it.

Hammerfell's military is largely intact, Skyrim's we can assume will be weakened by the civil war. Hammerfell is also a far larger country, for better and for worse.

Hammerfell* can't.
Skyrim definitely can't.

Have I unboggled your mind yet?

*Problem is people around these parts seem to hold Redguards in high regard. Perhaps far too high in my opinion.

I consider it a fairly likely outcome. Both hate the Thalmor and both would be opposed to Imperial control. Add in that saying no wouldn't serve any of them. Hammerfell is on the border of Alinor and thus wouldn't be hurt with having more troops and resources to fight them with. At the same time the Nords have good reason to support the Redguards to keep the Dominion away from Skyrim.
Well, the Stormcloaks have enough soldiers to man forts and cities all over Skyrim after the war, so I think there might be less harm done than one first would believe. The real war, beyond skirmishes, only lasted around 1 year after all.

I never said Stormcloaks couldn't destroy the Thalmor, in Skyrim that is.

It should be noted that the situation in Dragonstar was never resolved, or if it was, never mentioned.

Ever since the 'Redguard' trademark was discovered, there have been speculations about a possible story involving the civil war in Skrim, the Thalmor and -somehow- the Redguards of Hammerfell.

Until some more concrete elements surface, Redguards are just guys in funny clothes with curved swords. Curved. Swords! /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

It depends on whether you consider victory driving the Altmer off the mainland or conquering Alinor.

We know the seceded from the Empire, and, so far, have been succesful in keeping the Altmer armies out of Hammerfell.

And Skyrim, has almost every natural and physical land mass advantage that one could imagine. Plus, when Hammerfell was attacked, they were also suffering from infighting. I think peope are blowing the casualties Skyrim would have taken a bit out of proportion. For the most part the war was minor skirmishes, with two actual big battles that the dovahkiin finished quickly.

Edit: NVM, You meant destroy, not defend. In that case, no. The dominion's too big for a country to do it by themselves.

Whoever said the Redguards could is quite wrong. Neither could by themselves.

I think you're overhyping the Elves and underhyping the Nords. If the main character is joining the many-faced Talos, he has to replicate Lorkhan's life like Tiber, Arcturis, and Wulfharth did. So I mean, the Elves are going down with or without the empire.

The Redguards are the most naturally gifted warriors in Tamriel and beating them on their terms is near impossible (if you dont have a golem i guess). I dont think they have the strength to go on the offensive. Their common enemy should be enough to unite them with the free nords.

I meant drive off the mainland, not destroy as in actually subjugate Summerset Isle.

Seeing as the Khajitt alliance with the Dominion has a shaky basis and the Bosmer have been violently subjgated military maneuvers would be a secondary combat against the Thalmor.

Same. I don't think the Redguards even want to attack Alinor.

That's an if. Even as badass as Nords are, a lot would have to happen with their military for that to work. Thalmor have battlemages and khajiit cannon fodder, and possibly Bosmer soldiers too, although Valenwood may have an uprising. Its not easy fighting a force of two or more nations by yourself.
