Uh, actually, Breton is an IRL term for people form Britain. And again, no, Imperials are not Romans, they're Imperials, Redguards are not Carthaginians, they are Redguards.
You're thinking of BRITONS. "BRETONS" were from France, also called Gaul in antiquity...of course, the terms themselves are related because there was cultural overlap, but in the medieval era, "Breton" was always much more French, which is why Bretons in game had names like Louise Beauchamp. Not "Twinkly Featherbiscuits" or names that ARE 100% created, but totally stupid.
But if you knew your history you wouldn't believe the tripe that this game is so miraculous as to give birth to actual, dynamic culture. Heck, even REAL human culture is always derivative of something else.
Or do you also believe that the Space Marines from Alien, Halo, and Warhammer 40K, Starcraft, and Starship Troopers - the 1959 BOOK (which are also all not related to each other... ) are not based on actual, American Marines (as well as British and any other nationality with maritime trained ground soldiers)
