Rediscovering Old Items

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2009 11:32 pm

I was wondering what people thought of coming across stuff from the previous Elder Scrolls in Skyrim? A favourite weapon or some armor.

I was playing Oblivion the other day and I have to say I enjoy using Dawnfang/Duskfang & I thought wouldn't it be cool 200 hundred years later to come across the two crystals that are apart of the weapon in a dungeon somewhere which starts a quest. You have to go to a number of blacksmiths to track down a rumor of someone skilled enough to forge them into a weapon. After you visit a few smithies you piece together the location of a hermit smith who lives off somewhere & when you go to him, he/she gives you the option of:

A - Puting both crystals into a 1 handed sword, mace or axe.
B - Puting both crystals into a 2 handed sword, hammer or axe.
C - Puting each crystal into a seperate weapon, ie. one crystal in two 1 handed Shortswords, Longswords, Axes, Maces or combo of both. (Each weapon is slightly weaker then having both crystals in single weapon)

That's just what I thought would be cool. Put your ideas in.

P.S - Love also to see the Staff of Magnus & Chrysamere in Skyrim.

Most of the items in http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Tamrielic_Lore book + others left out. Basicly as many old and new ones as possible IMO.

I'm both hoping and expecting to see some of the known Tamrielic artifacts make an appearance, like Goldbrand, the Savior's Hide, and such, those are after all items that have always had precidence for appearing across different provinces, though I also wouldn't mind seeing some new artifacts as well, ones that seem appropriate for Skyrim. Aside from that, while I'm hoping there will be lots of new books after 200 years, I wouldn't be surprised to see some return from old games as well. Finally, I look forward to seeing what Bethesda will do with familiar armor and weapon types like glass, Daedric and such in Skyrim as well.

Yes, I would like to see old artifacts return in Skyrim but that's kind've a given, just like in other TES games.

Yes, of course I want to!

But, they need a good reason to be on Skyrim, 200 years after Oblivion and don't know how many years after Morrowind and Daggerfall.

Yes
Quite a few are within the gift of the Daedric Princes so I'd imagine we will see Daedric quests to obtain them

Pity its unlikely we'll see the Spear of Bitter Mercy though

I would love to again use the ancestral Dragonsword of Lainlyn with my noble Redguard :)

Couldn't care less about Umbra... I hate that thing. If it makes a return, I'll drop it right into the Sea of Ghosts so it never again claims the lives of innocents.

Goldbrand should be two handed this time

And Umbra should be returned to a two-hander. I also hope Volendrung is useful this time(longer than 3 lvls after you can get it).

I want Eltonbrand to make a return. And I want the method for getting it to be just as obscure/weird.

But yeah, I think it's a given we'll see a lot of artifacts return. And probably some cool other items too.

Fists of Randagulf, but they're like weapons now... and with base damage, like the Power Fists in FO3.

Would be cool if you found a unique weapon that you used in Oblivion and there was some backgroundstory as to how exactly it came to Skyrim.

Wraithguard, Keening and Sunder.

If memory serves, it is given by the Madgod, who turned into the Prince of Order in Shivering Isles. Did he die after being defeated? Looked like he just glittered away.

Edit: Would also like to see Boots of Blinding Speed, especially since athletics and speed is now gone in Skyrim.

I would like to see the nordic weapon and armor set from bloodmoon again. but as a rare set of armor and weapons since its pretty outdated at this time and it was always outdated. the nords living on solstheim were a bit unique after all.

Yep, definitely. It would be very cool to find some of the classic artifacts deep in a dungeon. Or to get a quest on finding some of them, like Mehrunes Razor, and thus getting a story of how it ended up in Skyrim etc.

Edit: But I also want to see new artifacts!
Edit #2: This was not supposed to be a reply to your post, Lord of Destruction. Just a reply to the whole thread. My bad. Now, back to study.

This. Oblivion really got screwed when it came to artifacts in that book. Morrowind had all of them, Daggerfall had most, Arena had some, Oblivion had barely any.

I'd like to see Skyrim have most of them. As far as Duskfang and Dawnfang, I doubt it, but it's possible.

I suspect i am totally off topic here...

But I'd like to see a lot more items with unique powerful enchantments, relative to and irrespective of your level. Items like the Boots of Blinding Speed - those have always stuck in my mind. The 200 point fortify speed and 100% blind was an amazing, fun combination. The fortify attributes in Oblivion was a little cheap, I found. It makes sense to have items that seem overpowered here and there, if you've gone to that much effort to find them, surely you deserve them?

Yeah , the scrolls of flight from the dead guy that falls out the sky in Morrowind. And my favorite 2 thiefs items, the gray cowl and Boots of Springhill Jack.
