What does everyone think about redoing fallout1 and 2 on the same engine as 3 And NV?

Friend, you just hit the no no button of these forums. :shakehead:

Edit: To give a more enlightened post. That kind of forward thinking angers the dinosaurs, me personally, I wouldnt care so long as they don't alter any of the games story, and attempt to find close enough voice actors. (Or the same actors if they're still around)

While I would enjoy the games, and I can't go back to playing the old ones... I still vote NO.

Only because I want new story not a retelling/reboot.

I would enjoy it. Although i haven't played them yet, others would not want this.
I would not want any of my earliest-memorable games to be redone. :fallout:

Hahaha oh I know, I was just interested in seeing how people would feel. I never did play the first 2, so i wouldn't be against it. I just don't understand why this is such blasphemy?

But not changing anything at all? Not the story or characters, just make it 1st/3rd person?

Why does everything have to be First Person these days, I'm yearning for something Isometric just because I'm sick to death of every game right now being an FPS.

and to be honest I don't care for Isometric games outside of the Fallout series and a couple other games.

The First 2 were amazing. The only thing that was lacking was graphics, but storyline well made up for that.

Whats wrong with the graphics? I thought the Art Design was really good, almost comic booky, and that aesthetic adds a lot to the atmosphere.

Bethesda decided to take a realistic looking route with art design and that really took away from that Fallout atmosphere, something New Vegas is lacking as well.

I just don't get this obsession with graphics.

I would enjoy a remake, but not on the same engine as Fallout 3 and new vegas. there is a certain charm to the originals that i think changing games system so much wouldn't translate very well.

What I would like to see is a graphical overhaul, not to extreme realistic graphics but an actual 3D that use Isometric view. something akin to borderlands style where it's not realistic but it's not overly cartoony either. It would still look like the originals; just with more detail and sharper terrain/characters.

Other than that I would only do very minor tweaks that don't have a real impact on gameplay. Things like small UI tweaks, combat speeds, menu changes. Mostly cosmetic stuff.

And in the long run it doesn't matter what any of us think, they will never be remade as long as Interplay retains the rights to them, and even if Bethesda gets a hold of them they will probably make them freeware like Arena and Daggerfall and then never speak of them again.

A lot of people put a lot of time and effort to get those games to look good, play well, and have great stories, and you (OP) want a do over? :toughninja:

It's like digitalizing and the Mona Lisa, and then using Photoshop to put make-up on her, and then using 3dSMax to bring her into the third dimension. No thanks.

Red Dead Redemption is an amzing third person game, this means not every game is a fps, good news. :)

I liked them as they were, and I like the character heads better than any face in Fallout 3 or NV.
(The shame is, that these days they could have those heads be their realtime regular faces in the game.)

IMO they depict a decent and informative scene at 90'. The game sprites of the characters are all really good archetypes, and IMO very good art given the pixel and color restriction placed on the artists.
