Reducing or getting rid of disease?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 1:53 pm

Have never been able to really get into OB... One of my major gripes is I'm constantly getting diseased during fights. My low level characters end up spending all their cash on remove disease potions at ~300gp a pop. Have just been fighting some raiders and got 4 diseases during 3 one on one fights in the space of 10 minutes.... Is this normal?? Maybe it's my setup, I'm running a 12 month old FCOM install.

I've tried a mod that supposedly builds immunity over time but I'm just over it now and ready to rage quit (again).

So how can I get rid of them or mod so diseases happen less than 2% of the time or something simliar.

Thanks

Go eat one Mandrake, it's good! ;) It's found most commonly in the Anvil and north of Anvil region.
You can brew Cure Disease potions yourself.

Edit: Actually are you sure it is a disease and not the result of some poison they had on their weapons? Normally only Zombies and Rats / Wolves carry many diseases. Humanoid enemies usually don't, or much less often at least.

Your disease catching ability appears to be really high, I have no idea what could be the cause of this. Maybe your PC just has a bad immune system?

That doesn't sound normal, no. I also run FCOM, have been for a couple of years and cant recall disease ever being that big of a concern.

OOO is pre-Vector, so if it includes a disease boost I suppose it would be ? Pestilent Afflictions ? I think that's what it was called.

Obviously if you're running either Pestilent Afflictions as a standalone or Vector, disease is going to be a major consideration. I cant think of any others that increase virulence offhand, but that's not the kind of mod I really get into, I'm sure there are others.

Other possibilities would be a race or birthsign rebalance that gives you a weakness to disease?

I know these are pretty obvious, not trying to be insulting, but eliminating the basics is a good way to identify a problem.

Edit

If you cant identify what it causing the virulence to go up, and dont mind using the console, I think this should work:

Player.SetAV ResistDisease 100

That should put your disease resistance to 100%, so the only disease you could possibly catch would be Vampirism (and Astral Vapors if you dont have the unnoficial patch).
