Reflective Mirror - reflecting a player?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 3:34 am

I'm stuck with making a truly reflective mirror. I used some placeable water flipped 90 degrees, and then set in a painting so the frame of the painting looks like the frame of the mirror. Eventually it will have a collision plane in front of it to stop players entering the water. The only problem is that it does not reflect the player. I don't even know if it's possible for reflective water to reflect NPCs in Fallout 3, so my question is: Is it possible for PWAT to reflect NPCs, and if so, how?

It should be in the graphic settings. Nothing you can do from the modding end though.

Thanks!

The reflections are working fine, I can see the whole room reflected, but it feels like my avatar is a vampire because he is not :-)

Do you know if water can reflect players? I've been searching the Internet and I haven't found anything on this, such as screenshots and so on. Nor have I seen a setting to specifically enable npc/player reflections in any graphics settings. Perhaps the game engine does not do this?

Try the ini file under water.

Like i said, if its possible, it will be a game setting, so nothing you can do via a mod.

Have you gotten the mirror working? If so let us know.
Do reflection reflect reflections? If so how many levels can gamebryo handle?
Anyone want to create a mirror maze?

I doubt if it will work in 1st person view, since there is no 1st person body for the player - just a couple of arms and a camera. But it would be interesting if it worked in third person view.

If you can't see your char if would make it even harder since you wont see yourself staring back at you. But at least reflections of the baddies or the infinite hallway made by 2 parallel mirrors would be cool.

No, unfortunately my character was not reflected in 3rd person. However, the mirror looks better than anything that can be found int GOTY edition world objects.

Thanks for the suggestions.
