EPILOGUE

Damn it, Jack, are you just about done burying your daddy?
Yeah, yeah.

Good. Command just called. Got a mission for us.
Really?

Yeah. Sounded important. Something about a prisoner in the Aquarium.
All right then.

I've been waiting for this day for a looooong time.

(It's been a fun two-hundred-and-one posts, everyone! Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!)

I purposely wrote it to leave a lot of questions open. Questions like "What happened next?" or "But wait - which side did he join?"

I'll answer those in one fell swoop - You decide. You are Jack, so this is your story. Specifically, it's the background story to your character. There's been a lot of detail left out on Jack and the Mummy. There is no indication of thier race, no clothing, no tattooes, and no idea of Jack's skills as any class. Jack's description is vague enough and he can be anyone, and anyone can be him.

So, if you feel up to it, come May 10 / May 13, when you start up Brink for your first time, pretend you're playing with this as your background story. I know I will.

Hey guys, just adding my thanks to everyone for making contributions or just reading the story, also Rammite I'm thanking you for having the story get added into a fan-background kinda story for their character, if we're about to name our loadouts, I'm naming one Jack.

@THEJORRRG, maybe it'll be like Red Dead Redemption were the Mummy gets turned into a zombie for a costume, eh?

So you say you got a nickname. The Mummy isn't his real name (Infact, I don't think we ever gave him a name :o)

It was more of a sarcastic comment anyway. I already have an awesome backstory for my character though, so I'm all good.
Great ending!

Excellent work.

I think a new RP is in order. This was quite epic.

There's the A New Horizon thread, though that's ~25 people progressing thier stories at the same time, Where the journal was a large mass of people progressing one story.

I agree, another one of these would be awesome, but we'd need to come up with a fresh beginning first. Another journal runs the risk of repeating too much of what we'd done here.

I was thinking of a "what-if" kind of RP (i.e. the Ark did get taken over by the Resistance or something), but I'm not sure how that would end up. A New Horizon is already a "what-if" scenario already.

I loved the ending rammite
The end was the most unpredictable thing
And Rebecca (breath, tear, snort) so sad
Weeping terribly inside

Yeah, people started to publicly think about that, and it kind of ruined it. But for every spoiled plot ending, there is a plot twist! Oh, plot twists, I love you so.

This. Can we go through and edit every post to make Jack's name John, just for the DOOM: RE reference?

"But wait - which side did he join?"

I can't see him joining the Resistance after they just killed his sister and were responsible for the death of his father. I don't think I would join the people who murdered the only family I had left.

But you also have to consider the Jesse. He'd probably shoot Jack on sight just because he's related to The Mummy.

Didn't the Jesse go rogue at some point though?

Not really. What makes him such a dangerous individual is that what he is done is totally justifiable. If they ever questioned his motives, he could simply reply that The Mummy had stolen armor plans and who knows what else, and that he needed to be eradicated else more data fell into the Resistance's hands.

Still, I think the Jesse did less than Ivan and the Resistance though. And was Ivan murdering Rebbecca justifiable? Maybe she would have alerted everyone one, but he killed her.

One would think, considering his last move, that he was just planning to do this all along and find a way to kill The Mummy "accidentally".

And was Ivan murdering Rebbecca justifiable?

Not at all.
