RegArding the 360 latest patch

Post » Sun Oct 31, 2010 4:35 pm

So I just received the LIVE patch for FONV and so I loaded up my one file that I'm currently playing through. When I went to load it gave me the old message of dlc being unavailable and may not load as a result (seemed like it were that game breaking bug all over) however it still loaded. So I'm wondering, is something going to affect my game now because of this, or ..?

The entire thread has information on the patch. Gstaff has even already said they realize the error in the patch and have a fix already (read in the sticky) they just need time to apply the patch. A day or two and everything will be running good as new. So your 'letter' isn't needed. Everyone knows it's the patch giving us the DLC message and it does not mean you need the DLC as people who have even all current DLC are getting the same error.

I had the same thing, downloaded patch this morning, missing DLC message, hit okay, continue and load saved game... boom a nice freeze just when I want to play most! Which is all the time!!!

However, I went to the game in the hard drive and deleted the new patch and the game is working fine for me now so I can play, has this not worked for others?

It depends really, some people have to completely start over. Others, like you for instance, resolve it quickly by deleting the patch. Other still, like me for instance, get the "DLC is no longer availible" gibberish, and are able to load their saves perfectly fine. It seems to react differently with each system, though those are the only three instances I've read about so far.

Also note: Some people who are aple to play their characters that were created pre-patch, like me, do have items dissapear from time to time. For instance, I'm working on a new main playthrough, because well, the special stats on my previous ones svck. Anyway, I just got into the NCR Safehouse to score the Ranger Combat armor, because let's be honost, it's some of the coolest looking armour in the game. :mohawk: Off topic, back on track, so I go to pick up the NCR Ranger Combat Armor, as well as the NCR Salvaged Power Armour, obviously over weight, I go to repare the NCR RCA, and its not in my Pip-Boy interface, yet I'm still egihed down by it, the Assault Rifle, Hunting Revolver, and Trail Carbine, as well as the NCR SPA are nowhere to be seen, so naturally, I get out of my Pip-Boy to check if I picked the items up (common mistake, think you picked something up and it turns out it's still on the ground  ) the items weren't there, so I go back into my Pip-Boy and there they are, right where they should have been. Problem fixed, but it's a little annoying.

If you are able to still load your files even with the DLC error message, then congratulation! :) you are one of the few who can actually play FONV without freezing/lag/corruption of saves. Next time you load should be no different than now. Only difference the new patch that will patch this one will be the removal of that pesky DLC message.

This. I've been switching between my 3 profiles for the past 3-4 hours now, just to make sure I can still play them. You should be good. :foodndrink:

look Bethesda I've had this idea for a while and i think it would fix most of your problems, let the modding community fix these bugs, allow users on the 360 to access modding communities like newvegasnexus.com, thereby both fixing all little bugs that you can't be bothered with (apparently) and enhancing game play for everyone, heck you can even moderate the mods coming in and choose which ones you'll allow and which you won't. for example i would love it so much to have the weapon mod expansion on my 360 version, accompanied with all those other little mods like a perk every level, both allowing the people who play the game play it like "they" want and i'm guessing far fewer complaints.

after all didn't you create this game to give it's players a joyful experience and not to piss them off.

I've got the patch and I get the DLC warning but the game loads up with all the weapon tweaks. However, and maybe I should have know this, the patch hasn't fixed the numerous quest bugs (Arcade not partying up, no Followers safehouse key, Boxcars still not giving up the radiation suits being the immediate ones I've seen) which is a real shame. I was really hoping that the quest bugs would have been a priority over some fairly pointless weapon balance tweaks.

Would be nice, however Microsoft would charge for this if it were implemented as a possible DLC, and most likely cost quite a bit. Wouldn't make sense to pay to patch your game you paid for. Patience, and all should be patched.

Antler says patch will bug it further.

Shut up!!!!

To my knowledge, they're still trying to figure out the exact reason why some quests are bugging for some players and not for the rest. Though IMO I wouldn't call the aim adjustment of rifles poitless, case that irritated me to know end. Though in comparison, I can see why you view them as pointless so... meh.

Sad but true, Microsoft could, and would charge for it, hell, the makers of the Toy Box DLC for Crackdown 2 had to pretty much get an act of congress before they could release the player mods DLC.

...so who's going to be the Guinea Pig and be the first to download the next patch that will supposedly fix the latest one and tell us how it goes? I got lucky and had a bad feeling about the latest one and didn't get it. lol There's not a snowball's chance in hell I'm downloading any new patch until I read 100+ accounts of nothing but people having no problem with it.

I'll do it! In the name of science!

Despite the save issue, I had absolutely no problem with the patch since I was doing a new game anyway. Except for one tiny thing, when traveling outside at night, the local ambiance *crickets, wolves howling, sound of the wind*, will follow me from building, to building. The sound of crickets chirping constantly has never been so damn annoying.

Well I'll definitely be downloading it, because I've got nothing to lose. My saves just don't work anymore, whatever I do. My brother has a FNV on PS3, and he had the save problem, until I put the latest patch on his console, and now his saves work fine. I know they are different consoles, but I'm hoping that my saves can also be recovered.

This is generally why I buy Bethesda's [censored] on PC. Can't go Deathclaw boxing now because of this. Still though, not the end of the world, now is it? Plenty of great games out there to play.

I wish they wouldn't use the word "soon" any more. Maybe words like; hours, days, weeks, months, the future, sometime but not right now, when we get to it.

Soon sounds like it will happen, well soon, like in the next hour at the most.

Reminds me of Spaceballs:

Dark Helmet, "When will then be now?"

Col. Sanders: "Soon."

How about a little suggestion in customer support from a company that it won't cost the earth for - Bethesda provides the first DLC to all of us that have sat down now for two days running having to do technical support and read through pages of forums to find that Bethesda didn't manage to properly test a FORCED patch for 360 users leaving us to start from scratch again or await the patch patch....... The first rule of IT broken by all software vendors? Take your time and do it properly.

As others say, no big deal in the grand scheme so I'll go for a bike ride instead of developing my third character....

True that. Feels like they can't be bothered to clean up their mess on the weekend. So, probably on Tuesday... Oh god I hope I am wrong.

And I agree with whoever that feels like we should get compensation. Free DLC or something.
