Regions. Help please.

Post » Sun Nov 08, 2015 10:49 pm

I'm looking into regions for one reason. When player fast travels from a snowy area to a sunny area the weather is "taken" with him/her too. I asked for help with this before but no solution was found so I am GUESSING regions may be the answer. Correct me please if there is another/better way.

I've looked at the regions section in Wiki and examined the regions in CK but am unsure how to make a new region, allocate regions (that grid map is confusing and then clicking and drawing lines does... what?).

A tutorial would be great if there are any around. Ideally solve the fast-travelling weather.

Not sure what you mean by the weather is taken with the player after a fast travel? I haven't experienced that myself. What are you trying to do?

Regions can be used for regional weathers. Use the weather tab and fill all the weathers (and the chances) you want in a particular region (snowy regions, sunny regions, etc.).
Of course you have to draw the boundaries of the region first. If you have any persistent kind of weather in region like always snowy one, use the override flag.
After that, remove any eventual "Climate" setting in your world space.

@Skybeth - Player is in a snowy climate, in this case the top of a mountain which is covered by a trigger box that makes it snow when player is inside it. When player leaves (by walking away) the weather is set back to the game's climate. If player is in the snowy area and fast travels to another area, say a beach then when player is spawned on the beach it is snowing and it won't stop until player goes into an interior cell and then exits it.

@ManyyGT - Nice to hear from you. How do I make a new region in the region window? As in make a region, set the weather and music for it?

First off, make sure you've opened an exterior cell of your worldspace.

Then go to your region and draw the boundaries. This makes where the weather and/or music are active in the region.

How do I draw the boundaries? Do I select region from list first? How can I make a new region with custom weather and music?

I have not tried to generate regions myself but have glanced through http://www.darkcreations.org/beyond-skyrim/wiki/Region_Generation and it seemed rather straight forward. There is also a link at the bottom of the page concerning boarders.
