Reinstalling Oblivion, what mods do you recommend?

Sorry, a bit late on the bashin' tips. Wouldn't renaming OBGEv2 mess up the plug-ins that depend on v2? I'm using a lot of those, and none (that I know of) from v1.

Loaded Oblivion as far as the main menu successfully. Upon exiting, it crashed. I'm installing weOCPS to attempt a fix.

Edit: weOCPS seems to have done the trick. It's character creation time!

Not as far as I know.

That is a normal bug. Please, do not use weOCPS unless you need it. Use FastExit v2 to take care of the crash on exit issue. It is small, does what is says and if there is any possibility of a conflict with it, I have not heard it.

Surprised nobody's said http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13398 yet, seems like that was the Only sword I used in Morrowind, and generally use at Least half way through Oblivion, Before I found this mod, I suppose it Is a tad overpowered though...


Quick question about Mighty Umbra. How do you get the quest for it started? I've got the sword, I've killed people/creatures with t, but I'm not really sure what to do to start fighting the sword's spirit or whatever. I read the journal, but it didn't say much.

I tried activating it, nothing happens. Haven't rested/waited in the dungeon for more than a few hours at most I think.

I spent probably a week in that stupid Dungeon waiting on it, and if you thought Umbra was tough the First time... :hehe:

Still in the sewers... I'm having a pretty svcky bug, where clicking on certain portions of the screen results in no register of the click, and clicking in other areas randomly minimizes Oblivion. Oblivion, of course, doesn't re-maximize without locking up, so this is not a very nice bug.

Edit: backgroundMouse is set to 0.

No news on that issue yet, but OBGE stopped working... I'm following your advice and switching from weOCPS to fastExit 2.

Yeah. It removed the menu/settings item from my inventory and everything. Said item was there on the initial launch, but gone soon after.

No idea about your current issue but you're using old versions of MMM, OOO and FCOM. I'd recommend updating to the latest versions, esp. as you're starting from scratch. Note that you have to uninstall your current version of MMM before updating as it has switched to a bsa format.

Also, use only the English version of WarCry:

Oblivion WarCry.esp [Version 1.085a] - skip
Oblivion WarCry EV.esp

Plus make sure you have the 1.085b patch.

Also, install all the resources for EVE but only use:

EVE_StockEquipmentReplacer4FCOM.esp

That load order is not sorted completely properly either. If you run BOSS, you should see a few changes, especially toward the end there.

Arkngt: the asterisks beside "Oblivion Warcry.esp" are put there by Wrye Bash to indicate that the mod has been merged into the patch, but is not active in my load list. Should I un-merge it?

tomlong: I've used BOSS to sort this load list at every step of the way, and will of course do so again as changes are made. Thanks for your concern. I'll go ahead and copy OBGE and rename it, as you recommended.

I've deactivated one of the immersive caves .esp files, in case they were conflicting. Additionally, I just realized that TES4LODGen hasn't been run yet...

Edit: Found another way to open the OBGE menu, but the effects are definitely not working. Will copy/rename.

Edit 2: Deleted Oblivion Warcry .esp and rebuilt patch... it sure is removing a lot of "sublists," as in the ones for every Cobl item...

Remove "Oblivion Warcry.esp". You should only have the "EV" version installed. Delete the other one.

After removing and rebuilding, I now have googly eyes. Chunks of the Imperial City's walls have been missing from the beginning, and are still. I must have messed up the city mods somehow.

Thanks to your renaming suggestion, OBGE now works. The new LOD build and OBGE make for some marvelous scenery. Also, this is the first time I've been able to use QTP3 (redimized) without having to install Jarroc's on top! Woot!

What is "Jarroc's"? Post your current load order, and I can probably figure out your eye problem. Make sure this load order is (BOSS) sorted before posting, please.

is as I'm not using BP, but if it's some kind of merge of them I'd recommend skipping BP and use Cobl races or RBP instead.

Yup... That plugin is old. Do not use it. If you are going to use Beautiful People, get the latest version, and then make the BP plugin compatible with Robert's mod. If you do not want to go through all of that trouble, follow Arkngt's recommendation. I use RBP, but if you do not want its http://theelderscrolls.info/?go=9XReadMeBalancingProject component, go with COBL Races. You cannot use both, and there is no reason to do so.

Removed the Beautiful People thingamajig. Rebuilt patch. Re-ordered. Googly eyes (on player character) persist. My eyes are from the Elaborate Eyes mod, iirc. Either that, or it's from the exact duplicate set included in BRP.

BP includes Elaborate Eyes, which is where the conflicts originate. Uninstall BP and Elaborate eyes for now.


Edit: What are those things loading after the bashed patch?

Removed the Beautiful People thingamajig. Rebuilt patch. Re-ordered. Googly eyes (on player character) persist. My eyes are from the Elaborate Eyes mod, iirc. Either that, or it's from the exact duplicate set included in BRP.


Elaborate Eyes should work fine in itself - at least it did ages ago when I used it. Are you only interested in eyes? Otherwise, using Cobl Races or RBP would make it unnecessary as they add eyes, hairs and races.

RBP includes EE support, or it used to, I think. They are not compatible, however. Whatever the current status is, the same goes for COBL Races obviously.


Edit: Nevermind, there is no support, but all you have to do is remove the Eyes tag (uncheck it in Wrye Bash) from RBP or COBL Races if you use EE. I say stick with one or the other for the least complications though...

Right now, they're both turned on. I have no idea which mod added in the eyes that are currently on my character; there were two copies of everything in the creation screen due to the "conflict." (actually, I think this one had only one copy, and it's definitely an EE eye set. Scratch that.) I had no googly eye issues until today.

Edit: Un-tabbing BRP for eyes didn't work. Disabling EE.

Both of what? BP and EE? BP includes all of EE, so drop the latter. Another reason not to use EE or a cosmetic compilation that use EE, is that some quest mods add races with their own eyes using the vanilla eye mesh, and EE makes them all look weird. That is why you find EE compatibility matches for certain quest mods.

I removed EE. Somewhere along the way, the entire structure of my character's face has changed. Probably the BP patch. There are no longer ANY custom eyes, even though I added the eyes tab back on bgBalancingEVCore.esp
