Reinstalling

Post » Wed Sep 14, 2011 2:03 am

Okay, so recently my computer got totally pwnd by dust and the harddrive was damaged.
I've been a Morrowind player since around 2004 and ever since I discovered them I'd loved mods. I had a huge collection of mods and when my computer died I figured I should try something different with the game.

So rather than trying to reassemble my mod list by memory, I figured I'd let the community decide for me. I'd get a great list of mods out of it and you guys get the satisfaction of dictating the actions of another being.
So go forth, community! Recommend me your favourite faction or dialogue mods or what not. Try to stay out of weapon/armor mods and retexes though, those are mostly personal preference.

(As a sidenote, I will definitely be installing the big,-everyone-knows-them mods like MGE, LGNPC, TR, and such. And I do know about Telesphoros' excellent lists. I'm looking for lesser known and less world changing but still awesome mods.)

EDIT: I just noticed this kinda overlaps with the "recommendations for new players" thread. I think it's different enough but if any mods decide it's too similar go ahead and delete/lock this thread.

Better Bodies goes without saying no? + Better heads to, the originals are terrible.

As you have a clean install why don't you download and play test the new mods the guys in this forum release? Then come back and give them info/ mistakes/ critism/ praise etc. Would be nice to have a resident play tester :D

Some I like. I'm assuming you have 1.6.18.20 (patched Bloodmoon/GOTY) Morrowind engine.

Hollow Fang's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6933. Some helms would require little NIFSkope resizing/repositioning depending on race, and iron helmet would probably require a texture/UV fix, still I think this mod is a must

Phaedrus' http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7710, is similar, some minor problems but great effect.
Manauser's improved gold weight is pure genius (bending a engine bug to be something useful deserves a "hats off"). There are also many other pearls in Manauser's chest, give them a try.
Arcimaestro Antares's animations are great and well-known, but you may have skipped some so better check to have the entire http://webpages.charter.net/manauser/morrowind/ (also, many other modding pearls here).
If you want to see simply the best modded animation ever done for Morrowind, take a look at Cait's birdies, they are alive. http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=3793 places them in fixed places as originally intended by Cait, http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=2786 places them dynamically and more sparsely, you can choose/use both of them.

FInally, my probably most-underdog little mod, http://abot-morrowind.tk/index.php?option=content&Itemid=10&task=view&id=29&-Loot-control, probably interesting only for veteran players, I can't play without it, especially with MCA. There are probably similar/better mods around, but I think they all require MWSE.
