Reinstalling the game causes loss of in app purchases

I was forced to reinstall the game and when I did my purchase was not given to me. I hope there is some way to fix this.

Nope. Should've read the forums beforehand. You might be able to fill out forms in google play store for a refund, that's where Bethesda sent me too.

Yeah, first game I've played that doesn't save your in-game purchases, or your game progress even when connected to google play. Really ticked off about this.

On that page, drop down the "refunds and returns" -menu


in there "problems with in-app purchases"


In there, go to troubleshooting first, or if you already tried every trick/option in the book, go to "option 2"; contact support


That link will get you to a form you need to fill out, including your receipt number from the purchase you made.


State clearly what the problem is and as always, stay nice.

So i got a hold of google they told me the fact that i had to get a hold of support here on a forum and that you dont have a restore purchases button or that you dont have a direct line of communacation that and one of my claims went 3 days with no response that this game is not following the rules and i forget what he said but i got a link to file complants

Excuse my interruption, but I just got off the phone with google through the link you posted (option 2 or 3 I think )

It was recommended I call for multiple refund issues instead of doing the form.


They said "unfortunately because its fallout shelter you need to contact the developer and file a complaint with them about progress loss/purchase loss"


The worker told me there was nothing they could do for me...at least he was nice about it.

Looks like its in the hands of bethesda now

I cant imagine they'll ignore this problem...ive seen reports of this bug as early as the release date of the android version.

svcks for me that I only noticed them today when my progress and purchases disappeared into the wasteland.

I just experienced the same issue. Game runs great, fun to play, extremely addictive. I never spend any money on in app purchases, and of course I buy the $4 "Mr.Handy" to support my favorite game company and just because i like the game that much. Only to find that within a week, the game just decides to force close before I hit the "Enter Valut" screen. Of course I reinstall only to be even more disappointed when I found that my save game and purchase just vanished instantly like the joy I got from playing the game. Now I'm just stuck in limbo between two companies not taking blame, and myself feeling ripped off and now with a sour taste in my mouth towards said game AND my so called "favorite" software company... It's not like my phone is a relic. I have an LG G2, and it runs fine. What's the point of even letting the game login to Google play? Yes you can track achievements, but you mean they don't store save files in the cloud or in app purchases? I'm quite pissed about this whole situation, as if that wasn't obvious... All over $4.....

No not different subjects. your game has obvious flaws that go against google play policies. number 1 being that i had a problem and it took a week to get a hold of anyone to solve it. google policy is 3 days and your supposed to have an in game customer support. For a good example look up boom beach amazingly fast response times and you never have to leave the app not to mention the game autosaves over the servers. just a few example problems right there. The only thing that makes me upset about this is I'm a huge enthusiast for Fallout and it doesn't meet my expectations. Btw watch the way you say stuff to people. things may no be ment but but still come off rude giving you the benefit of doubt

I'm having this issue too. I had to RMA my phone after it stopped charging and even if I had been aware that save files didn't sync I still wouldn't have had the opportunity to manually transfer my save. I contacted google about it first, they told me to contact Bethesda and gave me an email address that auto replied telling me to report bugs here or contact google for billing support. Not really sure what to do at this point, it seems google won't issue a refund outside the 2 hour window and I don't even know how to contact Bethesda to restore my purchases or get a refund. I suppose I can just issue a charge back on my credit card since I used it to buy the lunchbox's but that won't restore the Play store credit I spent.



I'm trying to understand why this game doesn't have cloud sync and frankly I'm coming up blank. it's already integrated with google play services for leaderboards and achievements, and Bethesda isn't exactly a small company. If you're charging me money for a digital product there either needs to be a way for me to recover that digital good if my device is damaged or you need to make if VERY clear that my progress is not synced anywhere. I'm not really sure how, in 2015, I was supposed to even consider that a title from a triple A developer that is already using cloud features and is charging for in app purchases doesn't have a way to recover those purchases. Utterly disappointed in Bethesda on this one and feeling kind of put off by the fact that the only contact email available is an auto reply box. I'm not going to post my account information on a public forum to receive support for purchases.



UPDATE: I decided to manually submit a refund request on Google Play for each purchase instead of calling their support line (what they recommend if you're requesting multiple refunds) and so far 3 of my 5 purchases have been refunded, including all the ones I made on my credit card so the only outstanding ones are the two I made using Google Play Credit. At this point I am satisfied with Google's response as the play store credit doesn't mean that much to me but still frustrated with Bethesda.



My advice to anyone who loses their in app purchases is to request a refund through the play store, select "I no longer want this item" and in the description box calmly explain that you have lost access to your in app purchases, Bethesda has not provided a way to recover them, and the contact email on their developer account is an auto reply box. This makes it clear that A ) the developer is violating the rules of the play store by not providing a way to restore in app purchases and B ) there is, as of now, no real way to contact Bethesda DIRECTLY (which is important, a forum does not count as support for purchases. No one should be posting account details or order information in a public forum and there is no guarantee anyone from Bethesda will even read this thread since it's not a DIRECT EMAIL to a support representative).



Hopefully everyone effected by this issue can get it resolved to their satisfaction, and maybe Bethesda will implement a better system in the future to prevent another similar situation.

Thats what i was saying that they are against google polocy so you can file a complant with google and force Bethesda to fix these issues

I was so excited for this game, now I find out so many fans are all stuck in the same situation. Stuck with a back and forth between two companies. I know you can get a refund from Google, but this is still technically thivery... I can't wrap my mind around how you can be such a s h i t t y programmer, and on top of that put people in such a situation. I've tried so many ways of getting a response from Bethesda, but it's like they dropped the project and there is no bug fixes being made. That or they just don't care..

I have a feeling they did not expect the mobile game to be so popular and were not ready to support it very well when they are focused on fallout 4 and then we see how much worse it gets. :(
