Release SP and MP separately (on Steam).

Post » Wed Oct 13, 2010 8:00 pm

Some people like singleplayer, some people like multiplayer. Some like both. From what I can tell from the videos that have been released for Crysis 2, SP is going to be awesome. Multiplayer, if it follows the trend of the previous 2 games, may not be so great. So if Crysis is going to be $60, release singleplayer as $30 and multiplayer as $30, or whatever. You'll get more sales this way, because if multiplayer doesn't have stuff like lean and prone as it's rumored to be, I will probably not pay $60 just to play the campaign, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Sign if you agree.

EDIT: I get how this wouldn't work for hard copies, but I don't see any problems for digital distribution like Steam.

I think $60 for a Crytek game, even single player is well worth the money. Just wait til it comes down in price to buy it if you don't like the price of both.

If they are planning to release for both consoles. I must suggest that they place the multiplayer portion of the game on a separate disc for the 360 so that if they plan to change things, add features and additional maps near release, they will not have to worry about data capacity limitations as well as not have to under develop content for the PS3 platform.

It's a lot easier put everything together on the game.

Im pretty sure there is leaning, as I recall seeing it in one of the gameplay videos of e3. as for prone, I wouldnt doubt that will be in it as well

I think its a great idea, but won't get crytek than much more revenue because I think most people (especially console players) won't even care for the SP) so it's better for us gamers, especially ones that only wan't one portion of the game. Plus that could lead many new people who play the game don't even have the chance to know about the story, which i disapprove of.

That would be useful, for a demo. Rather than the finished product..

There's leaning and prone in single player, as for MP we don't know. I've just heard people speculate about it because there wasn't lean in Crysis Wars.

I'd pay $60 just for Sandbox 3 and the game files (.pak, objects, textures, etc.). (adding in one demo level would be nice, too)

An Sp demo and an Mp demo, the only difference is, one has a Sandbox 3 editor and the other is just too limited :|
And I'm willing to pay, if necessary :|

There's lean in all versions and it's better to not have prone, given all the problems that come with it.

What problems come with prone that a million other games haven't already figured out how to fix?

People that agree with me? Oh this feels so good!
Ahem.
Back on topic(ish), I just got a key to the Battlefield Play4Free Beta, which doesn't have prone, which is horrible because it's impossible to take cover behind anything that isn't a full-sized building.

You could neither in Bad Company 2. They said they removed prone because it made it too easy for snipers :P
I was going to mention BC2, but that game was so poorly designed that I knew I would feel shame for simply mentioning it. And taking cover at all in that game is kinda pointless, because every physics object in that game is just waiting to spontaneously combust whenever anything remotely explosive lands anywhere near it, which happens 24/7 since all the classes have some kind of explosive (the medic has grenades, but they don't seem to work against destructible environments for some reason.)

Problems with prone? What kind of problems? I've never found any problems with prone in the games I have played :P

This was a Crysis Wars issue....

It didn't have lean. Any good feelings you have towards Wars are false and deceptive.

I'm kidding, Crysis Wars wasn't bad. I just don't see why it didn't have lean.

You seem to be judging the game before it's even been released... also I only payed $40 for both Crysis and Warhead because of a Steam bundle... it was definitely worth the money. But if it was $150 total, probably not. If the singleplayer of Crysis 2 is better than the original, meaning the AI isn't stupid and it has at least a moderately compelling story (with cutscenes that don't feel like they're padding the length of the game with their sluggishness), I'll definitely pay $60 for it.
