Release day preparations?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 7:03 am

So, how's everyones release day preparations going? What will you do?

My own preparations is taking a day off from work so I can play. I've worked way to much over time this year so I have earned an extra day off. :)

Last time I did that was back in September 1997 at the day of Ultima Online launch! Me and my best friend took a day off from school to play Ultima On-the-line.

Same thing I've been doing up until the release. Focus on something else, avoid obsessing over it. After it's downloaded I'll make myself a nice cup of tea and dive in with zero expectations, like I do every other game.

First off, I will download the game as soon as possible & have it ready and waiting to play at midnight. I'll also spend time thinking about how I want my character to look. Until then, probably just go about my normal day-to-day routine.

Sadly don't have the luxury of taking a day off, nor call sick, but I plan to give a reason to only work half day, that way I can pick up my pip-boy edition, take it home and do all the installing and patching stuff so once I get home from work I can play it.

Just waiting for my brand new custom built gaming laptop, which should arrive before the end of this month. Pip-Boy Edition and Steam pre-orders sorted. Season Pass ready. Both player characters planned out ready for dual playthrough. No boss to ask for time off. Will sleep as much as possible before launch with alarm set for 11.31pm UK time to give me half an hour to psych myself up ready to play my first 6 hour session as soon as the game launches...

And now less than 20 days to go!

Not needed. Close proximity to bathroom will allow for regular 'pit stops' :D

Since my current PC won't run the game, that depends on whether we go ahead and buy mine or space out new PCs for both my husband and me. His should arrive later this week, so I'll at least get to watch on release day.

Thankfully my job keeps me pretty busy with events each weekend I need to prepare for, so the time goes by pretty quickly. The white board in my office has dates and events on one side, and the daily countdown on the other side to the release date. This morning I keep refreshing the Youtube page waiting for the "Luck" video.

Boxes of cola, (130 cans in total) many savory & chocolate treats, many cushions & 3 weeks off work annual leave. My game cave is almost complete. Have I forgotten anything?

I'm taking care of any and all errands & chores I may have in the week leading up to the game's release. Getting my oil changed, filling up the gas tank, grocery shopping, cleaning the house, etc. That way, there won't be anything I have to take care of that'll take me away from Fallout 4.

Forgot to add that I am reading "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep". I was in grade school, many many moons ago, when I read it the first time, and I want it fresh on my head to spot any similarities to the plot line.

Might want to watch Bladerunner while you're at it.

To notify next of kin and local hospital that you'll be in some sort of diabetic coma around Nov 14th.

I took a 10 days off, before I knew the release date, which was a streak of luck really. Sadly it starts on Nov 11, while I am doing a double shift on November 10. :D So if indeed we will be able to play at midnight here in Germany, I will play until I have to go working, work from 6 AM to 12 PM, stay at my girlfriend's appartment for the night, so she will be more understanding and start playing somewhere around 8 AM on Wednesday. Written down it does not seem as smart.

Yeah I've already amended my last will & testament which states that I want to be buried with my copy of Fallout 4! That's if all goes pair shaped on the sugar front.

I'll have coffee and frozen dinners and pizza ready. Though I plan to spend my time here for a few weeks or more until I can get a new pc that can run the game. So, I plan to help people who come here with problems, gather solutions to pass on to others and try to keep folks happy.

Build up my impotent rage that I have a business trip that week. Probably won't be able to play until the weekend... at which point caffeine, tacos, and alienating my friends and family. Some point Sunday afternoon I'll try to go outside and figure out if I'm sane enough to go back into work the next day.
