Release at midnight - no matter where you live?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 6:14 am

Hi folks

I'm about to buy the game on Steam and I was just wondering if the game would be released the midnight from 9-10. nov for everybody (I live in Denmark)? The countdown on my Steam does not add up to that midnight, mine unlocks 10 hours later - hence the confusion.

Thanks in advance guys, and sorry for the bad english :)

Well...my steam says it will be released at 9 am on November 10. Unless they change it, no midnight release on PC at all.

Bethesda has world-wide release information:

https://bethesda.net/#en/events/game/prepare-for-the-future-fallout-4-important-release-info/2015/10/08/35

I would take Steam's unlock information with a grain of salt. They kind of run on their own time.

If it is not released when Bethesda says - complain to Steam.

That's one thing that annoys me about being a Time Lord from Arizona where do not observe the futile laws of Daylight Savings time. Everyone else is in some other period and place in time-space than me.

DST is over for the year. And being in Arizona, it unlocks for you a bit early ( 12:00 EST).

Yes, but how come Steam is showing something different then? Is that a normal problem with Steam, or?

Off topic - I wish PA was like that. DST just makes it get dark sooner for me since I'm up before sunrise anyway except in summer.

On topic - I'm not to worried about the unlock time. I have to be an advlt and go to work so I will be playing once I get home.

I'm not getting digital, but I just checked Gamestop and since I'm on Pacific time, I will be able to get my copy at 9:01 on the 9th!

I'm pretty sure the game is releasing simultaneously at midnight UTC-5 (US East Coast). You live in UTC+1.

What Ive been hearing is 12:01 AM in EST for the entire world. I wouldn't suggest staying up all night to play it as soon as it comes out even if you were in EST. Get a good nights rest on the 9th and be ready to face The Wasteland head on. You're going to need to be alert and wakeful when the bombs drop. :P

This is incorrect. 12:01 AM EST is United States only.

Really? That's news to me. Now that im actually looking at the release page all the information seems to be there, stupid me for not reading that stuff...

Going by that page it seems I'm unaffected since im still in EST and North America to boot. Good thing I didn't have to change my plans, if I was on the west coast and it was unlocking 3 hours earlier I would reconsider.

I was hoping to at least play through the intro and test the rig against my rig before going to bed :)

Bed? On the day Fallout 4 comes out?

I think I see your problem.

The game is releasing at 10:01 EST in north America (not just the u.s.) I am unsure about the rest of the world. But to explain the date changes on Steam, I live in MST that means I get the game at 10 p.m. on the ninth 22:00 MST on Nov 9 = 0:00 EST on the 10th. Hope this helps some of you figure out your timing. We will all get it at the exact same time but for some it is earlier then midnight and for some later. That is how time zones work :chaos:.

I'm sceptical with the release on psn, I bought watch dogs and was expecting a midnight release but had to wait till the morning and then I had licence issues. I'm hoping they got their stuff together and will really unlock the game at midnight UK time.
