Relevant commentary about Subscription based

I kind of wonder, hwo many of the F2P fans has played any F2P games into the endgame as in max level raiding. Yes I raided regular y in WOW, no not the hardest raids and we svcked hard but it was fun.

leveling up at lower levels in F2P tend to be petty cheap unless you are lazy.

Another issue how many of them buy a lot of games, yes they might be like me moding Skyrim and playing minecraft the last two years. Yes buy not download like criminal scums. HALT.

I get what you are saying. However if I find another game I like better that is f2p/p2p/otc I will go and play that game. If you are worried about ESO keeping players I doubt that will be a problem, then again what do I know? haha.

Then go play those games.

I don't understand. If you don't want to pay the subscription and think other MMO's are better, go play them. Why are you complaining since you think those games and their pay models are superior? You're wasting valuable play time here instead.

yes that is an issue, however the first moth is included in the cost, you can use the beta as an demo. If you play an month and get bored you drop it and is better off than 90% of current single player games as very few give two weeks content. If you play on console you have to wait for their beta.

For sub MMO is WOW or EVE, both are totally different games, and yes they provide stuff ESO can not give you.
Yes ESO is not for everybody, if you don't like it after trying PvP do something else.

I don't get it, why should you buy and eat an expensive cake when there is a turd on the sidewalk for free ?! There are just cheaper options out there.

To those that quoted me: I understand if you're homeless or jobless that you should 'prolly prioritize and not buy games, what I was getting at is "rainy days" that you have to be prepared for now-a-days. From America, companies close constantly, gov. shutdown, yadda-yadda... I might make more than enough, but nothing is guaranteed tomorrow for practically anyone. That's $180+60 that could make the difference in a car payment or food on your table. Heck, why fork this over if the game is a dying rocket by the end of three months (when most games normally START flop in). (Anyone who lives in America and doesn't see how bad it is, needs to open their eyes. Yes, somewhat better than before, but no ones job is really safe yet ...I honestly know nothing about how it is in MOST other countries so this wasn't meant for them.)

If I am lucky to get one day of play time out of my $15, this game better be damn good OR give me an incentive to keep wasting my money every month. I don't care if I get capped at $10 for 30-60 hours of play time, at least it's there when I come back and I didn't waste any cash. You can all yadda-yadda about how it's not needed, but you're the ones who (maybe not all, but most of you) get your money's worth while people with hectic schedules loose. Now some of you are like this and think it's cool and I beg to differ when it comes to loosing my money when I am not gambling or getting mugged (which is not cool).

Right, if you find a game you like better than ESO, you're not going to stick with ESO because of its awesome payment model.

 Yeah but didn't a lot of the so called F2P games start out like ESO will? With a box and a sub fee? That means that at one time those turds were fluffy pieces of cake.

Or, what is one man's trash is another man's treasure. What is novel to one person is old news to another.

Plays more like 'I can't read'.

My personal take on it is that the reason MMOs go F2P is simply the reality of economics meets the reality of how lame most MMO games are. There are a few MMOs that players of such games really like, but most are bad ... and most video game players are not going to be MMO fans - hence they will try out a game and quickly realize that it is bad. The company will hold out hope for these purchases as being the next WoW. Then F2P when that doesn't work.

There is only so long you can play the same game mechanics, and the lack of game mechanics is what makes people say things like 'If you have played one MMO, you have played all MMOs.' So the companies rely on hype, marketing, and creating a player base off of whatever new IP they are dismantling.

I'd estimate that more than 96% of MMOs have or will go F2P. As the market shows that to be the way to go there is no well wishing for a game that will stop it. Then we will have MMO players who will defend that too and get long posts about the necessity of F2P participants so that their premium monthly purchase (what used to be called the subscription) will be possible because what really matters is 6-12 months of grinding to get to end game content.

Sorry, I switched off when you said "As a real life anolyst with a Masters in International Business". Having worked with many people who have said this as means to promote what they say as relevant and correct. This is akin to someone saying "I'm very intelligent", if you find that works for you, keep it going otherwise I'd ditch it and let what you say do the talking.

So then they should make available f.e. 3 months sub or 6 months sub for your kind of people who cannot play every day 2-5 hours a day..

That makes it more "flexible" and you know you have your moneys worth of play time. And of course if you pay month it would be standard, 3 months little less than month x 3 and so on.. that would also get people interested to pay f.e. 6 months straight and take it relaxed and slow and not to be [censored] up addicts to rush through the content and then moan in the forums because they have nothing to do.

You could actually explain what you mean, or you could spend your time insulting people. I know it's harder to elucidate than it is to be condescending, but it contributes nothing to the conversation.

They can not download ESO and play for free like they did with Skyrim, Zaria put on level 50 armor with fire protection enchants and go into sneak mode.

If you have a really busy schedule than MMO's probably aren't for you. Even if they are free to play, the content is designed to continually progress. If you don't have the time to progress your character you're going to fall further and further behind your friends and guildmates, and won't be able to contribute to grouping due to not having the gear or experience with the content to participate fully.

If I found another MMO who was better than ESO I would play it even if ESO was real F2P. Your time also has an value, you could do something else.

Or even better ... find themselves a job

I noticed that an mmo that truly hold my attention is always saving me tons of money regardless of subscription cost. Its because I sit at home and play, instead of drinking in pub with friends. And trust me, in a pub with friends I burn much more than sub cost on a one single night!

That's cheap, it's about £8 a pack where I live. I smoke rolling tobacco, so an £18 50g pack lasts about 2 weeks. If I give up smoking, I can pay for the game for 4 months. But I'll just smoke and play, the best combination.
