RELz Crippling Injuries

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 4:54 am

This is just a little side project I’ve had going off and on for a while. I plan to add more over time but it’s not my main focus, so if I didn’t release it now it’d be a long time before I did. I hope some of you masochistic types will find this enjoyable.

Description
Here are a few plugins to make being crippled in Fallout a bit more severe. There are currently 3 files with more to come over time as I get things figured out. Currently This only covers Legs and Torso. I personally use http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2121 for Crippled Arms because it handles arms EXACTLY the same way I was going to, perhaps as I add to this mod I may come up with something a bit more unique

StumbleFall – This mod adds a random chance to have your character fall down when one or both legs are crippled. The longer you go without falling and the more legs you have crippled the more likely you are to fall down.

StumbleFall_Attributes – This mod performs the same basic function as StumbleFall but adds your Endurance and Agility as variables. Having higher Agility and Endurance will help keep you upright. (Use only one StumbleFall plugin at a time)

BleedOut_Attributes – When your torso becomes crippled you will bleed to death without immediate medical attention. Your Medicine skill will allow you to slow the bleeding down. Having higher Endurance will also help you suffer less from the blood loss.

Known Issues
The StumbleFall plugins drain your fatigue; the result is that you will collapse in the most natural direction for the terrain and direction of movement. I have had an issue with the Havok physics, sometimes while having a particularly long weapon slung across my back and falling backwards onto it the Havok engine reads this as a pole vault attempt and can launch you several feet into the air. I don’t know how to fix this, you can send me nasty messages about this but I will ignore them.

Installation
UnRar files
Choose the esp files that you want and put them into data folder
Open FOMM (or whatever launcher you use) and check the appropriate boxes
Play Fallout

Compatability
These mods have a single script and a single quest, so in theory they should be compatible with just about any mod currently out there. If you do experience a conflict please let me know, I won't ignore these types of messages.

Contact Info
If you have any problems you can find me on the gamesas forums under the name Stevedog.

Credits
I'd like to thank Schlangster for taking a look at my original StumbleFall script, completley throwing it away and coming back with a much more efficient one.
I'd also like to thank Belanos for talking me into making this mod.

I got a bug report with the StumbleFall plugins. When the character gets back up thier head sometimes ends up at an odd angle. This maybe due to a conflict with a body replacer. If anyone else has this or any other issue please let me know. If it is something I can fix I will.

I've put some more thought into this, I would like to see varying levels of crippled limbs. For example: Stable, Serious, Critical and Grave Condition. When crippled there would be a random chance to see how crippled you have become. The penalties would be scaled according to the severity on your injuries. Some ideas I have would be that injured arms would increase weapon spread until all weapons become unequipable. For Torso I'd have the bleed out stop at certain points, 75% for Stable Condition to 25% at Critical Condition and then with Grave Condition the bleeding would not stop on its own. For Head injuries I was playing with skill reductions but I think a better idea might be periodic black outs that would last from just a brief moment to maybe a few seconds, you can keep running and gunning you just wont be able to see.

I'd also like to see if it would be possible to allow healing only in steps, that is limb healing whle in Critical Condition would only allow you to heal to Serios Condition and then you'd have to heal again to get to Stable then you could start healing the actual hit points on the limbs. Maybe have the player have to wait a day before they could attempt the next level of healing. Though I'm not sure how I would handle Rad limb healing.

Anyway if anyone has any ideas or has experienced any issues with this mod please let me know.
