(RELz) Darknut's 1st Person Enhanced

Post » Fri Mar 26, 2010 6:55 pm

it was there in the 3rd person anims

It is great that you added it to first person.

I have some ideas which can be combined to this mod. But I have to inspect the mod further to understand how it works. What more can be added, let's say to magic animations.

Does this mod work with your 1st person helms mod, because it would be a shame to have to choose between them.

How do I set the FSS_OPT to 90 or whatever so I can see the armor?

Darknut, would it perhaps be possible to simply use an MGE shader to replace the sun-glare? Maybe a good question for Peachykeen....

Hands don't show up at depth buffer sometimes. I think Morrowind renders them in a separate pass and it is linked to alpha.

As for sun glare shader, the problem is occlusion. How can we know if the sun is visible or not? Peachy will know.

PS. Depth buffer should help us. But applying glow on a target position on screen, even I can do that. Masking it with depth buffer, I am not sure. But if I do, there will be god rays too. :)
PPS. I love your mod Darknut. Hand covers eyes in blight, but according to wind direction. Is that included in third person animations or you added it?

It is, in fact. It would not only fix all the black-sun issues to do such a thing, but a god-rays shader would have a similar effect all by itself (rendering the glare texture unnecessary).

To know if the sun is visible, you use eyevec and sunvec to calculate if it's in screen, then mask it if the depth texture doesn't read white (>25000 or so).

It's good to see new things still happening in Morrowind.

Also this is off topic but what happened to your world replacement? Is it on hold?

Love this mod, but on an unrelated note, did you ever release your scum? I always use the beta you released quite a while ago, and it is excellent.

ok I just tested the new version and it not only still has the middle, ring, and pinky still frozen in a straight position with bethesda gloves on, but now without it my (but I think only my) index fingers are twisted and funky.

The latter might be a problem with my person character mesh, which I am going to check, but it still seems to hate bethesda's glove/gauntlet meshes.

-Aparently my thumb rigging isn't smooth enough. (disregard all that stuff. irrelevant to this mod and fixed.)

Maybe if I rerig bethesda's gauntlet meshes? BB skeleton seems to be slightly different I think.

All the armor gauntlets work correctly for MW, TB & BM .... if they don't.... its a bad installation or conflict of some sort.

as far as clothing/glove go ... it just occurred to me I didn't put that esp in the zip ... oops .... so gloves prob don't look right ... I'll get it fixed ASAP.

I don't have any other animation replacers installed, nor have I changed the meshes in any way. I've reinstalled the files many times.
If it means anything I don't use the esps, since I don't really want the chest in 1st person. I just use the animation replacer so that everything matches 3rd person anims.

You have to use the ESP's ...... that's why it doesn't work .... as I said .... bad install ... honestly sometimes I don't know why I bother making readme's :banghead:

Firstly, I don't see this fix mentioned here or in the readme, but there's a temporary fix for the black sun that worked for me. Temporary until the problem is figured out. It worked just find for me.
Here's the link to it: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IX6I7D4B
The link came from the AMD forums.

This mod is really, really awesome. One of my favorites of all time. But, I have a problem with it that I just can't seem to figure out. I've not noticed it mentioned here but I'm sure it's related to this mod in my case because I tested it by removing this mod (anims and esp) which fixed it.

The problem is that when shooting crossbows and targeted spells, I have no sound while in 1st person. It's weird because the crossbow won't play the shooting sound, but it plays the secondary sound of reloading (or whatever that sound happens to be). 3rd person is perfectly fine and all sounds play as they should.
I'm so bummed because I can't see going back to Vanilla. For a while I noticed something funny about shooting targeted magic but I am currently playing more of a combat personality so I didn't use magic enough to realize what it was until I used the crossbow. The silence is so noticeable that I simply can't just ignore like I would have liked to.
Again, I went ahead and removed the entire content of the mod and tried my crossbow and magic in Vanilla 1st person and the sound came back.
Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? I find it so strange that it hasn't been mentioned neither here nor in the readme. Has anyone else heard of this? I'd be so sad to say goodbye to this one. I would have kept the black sun B) for it but the missing shooting sound for crossbow is just too wrong to me.

Anyone have any guesses?

That was reported back in the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=921349&st=83# - Darknut said he fixed it tho.

Make sure you're using the latest version of the .kf files and see if that fixes it. I'm not using the mod in my current setup, otherwise I'd give you a definitive answer whether it's still a problem. <_<

I tried this mod some days ago because it sounded great and it had "Darknut?s" in the title ;D

Installed it, started the game, and it worked...but how... O.o

It kind of feels like it SHOULD feel more natural, but to me it doesnt.
Maybe its because the screen is "shaking" so much, especially when running, according to the body movement you can see in 3rd person. After a while that "shaking" made my eyes hurt and get wet...made me think of myself running in real life, and I think my view wouldnt "shake" as much...

The different position of the weapon in my hand also looked okay, but running with shield and weapon in hands was so "nervous" with weapon and shield "shaking" all over the screen...made me crazy.

I tried playing with it for an hour or two, but then I switched back to normal and was happy again.

Had no "technical" trouble with this, so I guess its well done, just not for me. :)
