(RELz) Darknut's 1st Person Enhanced

Post » Sat Mar 27, 2010 4:45 am

I tried this mod some days ago because it sounded great and it had "Darknut?s" in the title ;D

Installed it, started the game, and it worked...but how... O.o

It kind of feels like it SHOULD feel more natural, but to me it doesnt.
Maybe its because the screen is "shaking" so much, especially when running, according to the body movement you can see in 3rd person. After a while that "shaking" made my eyes hurt and get wet...made me think of myself running in real life, and I think my view wouldnt "shake" as much...

The different position of the weapon in my hand also looked okay, but running with shield and weapon in hands was so "nervous" with weapon and shield "shaking" all over the screen...made me crazy.

I tried playing with it for an hour or two, but then I switched back to normal and was happy again.

Had no "technical" trouble with this, so I guess its well done, just not for me. :)

To each his own ... I don't think I could ever play with vanilla 1st Person anims again ..they are so flat .... One thing about using this mod ... if your used to having your running speed "speeded" up ..it will look really goofy now ... this mod fill force you to keep the speed more realistic.

I find I actually walk a lot now when I play & run when I need to ... before this mod I just left run on all the time.

Yeah right, the vanilla animations are "a little" flat, but the 3rd person ones were just too much...for me.
I dont have my running speed speeded up but to me it still looked, in your words, goofy.
I tried just to walk when using your mod, but as always walking was just too slow, which is why I also leave run on all the time...I like that.^^

But is there a way to use ONLY the...uhm...weapon holding and fighting animations while still keeping the vanilla walking anims?

Your right ! I just checked it the bow sound is gone again. ..... I'll get a updated version up by tomorrow ...sorry

Ah, okay. It's great to know that it is fixable rather than an unexplained quirk of my personal game. :) No apologies necessary.

Edit: Btw, This may be totally different but I am seeing the double hands (fingers sticking out of fists) even when using the esp. That, however, I can handle ignoring which is why I never mentioned it. But, while you're at fixing the sound....just in case.

OK I tested this on My game PC with the file that is online & the sounds all work in My game.

I must still have the old beta on My PC at work .....

That's weird....I have no idea why this would be happening on mine since I have the latest version. Plus the problem with the hands plagues me as well.

I should probably mention that I'm not using any beast bodies, just the regular main armor plugin in case it matters. The date on the esp is 12_29_08 in the archive on PES.

Must be a install issue ... especially the hands

Install issue? All there is to is is dropping the Anims in the meshes folder and ticking the esp in Wrye Mash (or whichever utility you use). I'd guess it must be a conflict rather than install issue. I've reinstalled and uninstalled it while testing more than once and I am 200 percent sure I put those few meshes in the right place. ;)

Also, I added some info to my last post above that you may have missed, though it probably doesn't mean much.

What the heck are you talking about? I told you in my post that I DID have the esp activated. Geez, I read the read me long before I came here to ask for a little assistance. No reason to have an attitude. Perhaps you should read my post instead.

Oh! The fingers thing got fixed? ^^ Excellent. I never knew. Thanks for the fix Darknut. :)

@Artistika
When you say 'double hands' do you mean the pinky and ring fingers on the hands are sticking out while the hands are supposed to be balled in a fist? Or is this completely different?

Darknut I'd like to compliment you on the genius of your mod. Makes the game much less stiff, and much more immersive. I feel like a [censored] walking around with my giant axe taking up half my screen. :P

Pwin, thanks for taking an interest.
It is just as you describe when the hands are supposed to be in a fist, there are a couple of fingers showing through.
I'm also having the issue where the crossbow sound is broken whenever I am using this mod. Neither of these issues are present without this mod and the rest of the mod works normally. It has to be some sort of conflict but I've uninstalled this mod since I see no real way to fix it without taking my mods list apart. I'll watch for a fix. A lot of people never bother to report issues so I will just have to watch for someone else to report it and see if they find a fix or if they can note some sort of mod conflict.

I appreciate the thought, though.

I agree that this mod is a nice change from Vanilla style animations, though.

The fix with the hands was supposed to be out for awhile now I guess (a month or so). It was reported a long time ago in the WIPz thread. But a few pages back he updated the mod with a fix.

I guess I'll test it out too then...Never tried out a crossbow...Couldn't hurt to have another person test it?

That's very nice of you, Pwin. Thank you.
I wonder, is there anyone else who uses a human character who can use a crossbow with sound and whose hands are showing correctly? I keep wondering if it has anything to do with my particular version of the mod. Can anyone verify that humans work correctly as well?

Works fine for me. I've got crossbow sounds, magic sounds (only tried mysticism, but didn't try any target spells), and no more issues with the 'double hands'. Must be a conflict with something else then or somehow a bad installation (as DN said). I'm betting on the conflict though. But what could conflict with it?

I think you should try to find out what the mod isn't working with. Have you tried running a game with just the Beth ESMs and 1st person enhanced yet?

Edit: Just to make sure, when was the last time you downloaded the mod?

Pwin, thanks a lot for testing it. Would you be kind enough to tell me: 1. Which race were you using? 2. Exactly which esps did you have activated at the time of testing?

The thing about a bad install is that the mod is working entirely, except for the two problems. These two problems are directly tied to this mod and were verified problems prior to this version. How would everything be working as designed if it were not installed correctly? These problems are not out of the blue due to bad installs, either. These were problems with the original version and they are also due to people not having the esps activated. I DO have the esps activated. There is no possible way that it is due to installation. Otherwise, the mod just wouldn't work, and it certainly wouldn't run as perfectly as it does with the exception of those two problems. Also, for the record, I have been using mods for years. I do a lot of modding myself and I rarely run into issues that I cannot resolve myself. I am an avid reader of readmes and I only ask for help once I'm sure I have tried everything I can think of.

Please bear that in mind. I understand that I am not impervious to making mistakes, however I have gone over and over this, installing it again and again just to make sure and there is absolutely no way it has not been done correctly.

At this point, I just want to know what is wrong out of sheer curiosity. I am okay living without this and wouldn't even be here trying to figure it out still had Pwin not been kind enough to inquire. I will do some mod list tearing apart over the weekend and see what I can come up with, though I doubt if anyone actually cares. (Excluding Pwin, that is)

Peace.

Here what has to happen for this mod to work correctly:

1: Get the mod from PES or GHF
2: have "Betterbodies" installed in the default locations ( not plug endless )
3: have Liztails or Slof's Beast bodies installed.
4: have 2 esps checked ... Armor & bodies ( the body esp that matches which ever beast bodies you use )

If you did all this & it still doesn't work right then it has to be a conflict with another mod .....

I sure don't know what mod it would be .... I tested this Myself with over 200 mods & most everyone else seems to be getting it to work ( granted some easier than others )

Post your mod load order ....

^^" I did not mean to offend with the mod installation issue. It was more to let DN know that I wasn't ignoring his post and not just trying to make him look bad. ^^"

I was using a male Dark Elf. Used a Dwarven Crossbow with Sparkbolts.

I had a very large list of mods...should have tried with just beth esms though. I'll try again with just the beth esms next time though.

Thanks guys, I will get to testing it out this evening. Pwin you are awesome. If I could give you an award, I would. Any requests for mods? I can make you something in return. :)

My big question right now is:

Darknut, are you saying that even if you are using a human character, you must also be using a beast bodies replacer to use this mod? I think that might be the problem. I have read the readme a few times over (more than a few times, in fact) but I got the impression that those body replacers were needed for Beast Race players, especially since there is no need to have them if you're not playing a beast race. Most people probably use replacers, even with human characters, which may be why no one has reported it....Although, I have no idea.

I think I'm misunderstanding things a bit....
As a human character, I don't use a beast replacer since I like to eek as much performance I can and cut out mods I don't necessarily need for each game. That's the reason I don't use the beast mods in this game.
I guess I am the only one here that doesn't, heh.

I'm not sure if that will fix the issues but I don't think you meant to make it so that human characters relied on beast races as well...? Someone would probably have said something about needing the beast mods even with humans if it was altogether clear...
I'm not sure. Maybe I'm the only stooopid one.

Thank you again.

They are listed as required, so to my knowledge you will need to have them in your game no matter what to use this mod.

And, I would imagine you are probably correct that most in here use them already, as body replacers have become pretty standard installs in the Morrowind Community, regardless of if you play the race of not (so the NPCs don't look cruddy is the main reasons for it).

I would say try the Beast Bodies out and see if that works.

Yes you have to use one or the other beast replacers ..... the DN_1st_Person_bodies.esp looks for Liztails beast so if they are not there it causes a error.

Since U'r playing a human You could prob install liztail's beast & not use the esp's so they would not show up in game but 1st Person Enhanced would find them.

I know I'm not perfect & I don't mean to sound like a butt ...but everything in the readme that says "is required".... 'IS" required" .... I don't know how else to say it ....

Hope this fixes it for you

:) Let us know if that fixes it for you.

DN, I'm still getting the fingers sticking out of the fist when using gloves (though it is fixed now when I'm not using gloves. Its not really a big deal since I don't normally use them anyway).

I'll test again with just the required files to make sure.

Oh, do you think I can ask about how you got the clothing and armors to show up on the body? :) I'd like to see about getting some of my community clothes showing up on my pc. ^^" I like my female models as much as the next guy, but looking straight down is only entertaining for so long :).
