(RELz) FCOM Convergence and UFCOM

HOLY CRAP!! So I've finally got everything set up and playing through and I've had my ass handed to me a couple of times. I have to say FCOM and all the mods will give me my moneys worth for years to come. The ONLY thing I haven't been able to get to work probably because I'm miss reading a step is Fran's. I can live with out it though I don't need more enemies chasing me. The only minor annoyance I have with my game is that there are tons of wolves so trying to wait while on the road. I also noticed a lot more bones when I kill goblins. But that's probably my fault for choosing to have more wild life and the option about bone loot.

All that would be normal has FCOM or in specific MMM increase the amount of creatures/npc that you encounter.

If too many then Use one of the Spawn Rate Reduced Plugins. And if amount of Bones is too much use the Less Bone Loot plugin. If Amount Along Road are too much use Safer Roads plugin.

Read the MMM Manual for more info on MMM itself and what it changes.

For whatever reason I've just never set up the Hot Key for it before, but that was my main example since it's an easy way to recreate my crash; Either equipping a torch from the menu while a 2-handed weapon (or 1h+shield) is drawn, or holding a torch, and then drawing a 2-handed weapon (or 1h+shield). Either of those can crash the game, not always, but often enough, disabling OBSE completely removes the crashing.

Anyhow, I'll just have to avoid OBSE for now I suppose, I've actually had this crashing issue with the torches for as long as I can remember trying to use FCOM, no matter what mix of optional mods I install or how bare-bones the FCOM install is. Very strange! Perhaps it's something to do with 64-bit windows? I really have no idea;


OBSE shouldn't be involved at all when dropping torches, unless using the OBSE version of Drop Lit torches of course, so it's a weird issue. Which OBSE version are you running? Post your load order via Wrye Bash as well - perhaps something is up with that.

:swear: So I went and started a new character and got to the part with all the trolls in the cave pulled out my sword and my character put her torch away instead of dropping it. I don't get it since my other character from last night was working just fine with dropping torches. Now even that character won't drop their torch.

If another mod alters the Torch and is loaded after OOO it might break Drop Lit Torches. Have you added a mod since it worked? You might also consider the OBSE version of Drop Lit Torches as it has no such issues.

Nope I didn't add any new mods and it was working fine last night. As far as I know I don't have any other mods that alter torches.

Weird. Easily checked in TES4View: Load all mods > Oblivion.esm > Light > Torch02. OOO should be the last esp affecting it.

Or post your load order - someone might notice something.

If using OBSE, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16282 has no such compatibility issues as said.

Did you forget to maybe check importing scripts in bash patched and selecting OOO.esp

Sounds like OOO scripts are not getting attached correctly and getting overwritten by UOP ones maybe..

There are Two Version of MMM Cobl Currently to clarify

The Orig one that comes with Cobl 1.72 which is MMM Cobl {1.69 Version) This is safe to use FCOM_Cobl and OOO Cobl..But does not cover near has much has updated version.

The Updated Version which is covers all the Additons that MMM has made and designed for UFCOM has well.

is the MMM Cobl 1.72 for MMM 3.7b3 Version that can be found in Cobl Thread Itself which is used meant to be used with Cobl 1.73 Development Version.

This is version that you should not use FCOM Cobl with.

The Next OOO / MMM Version have support for Cobl built directly into them and fcom_cobl will not be needed in future anymore when next UFCOM comes out.

That sounds like it. Forgot about the script bashing - it was up before a while ago.

You know what this might be the problem. I had a hunch and tried both saves with out my bash patch running and the drop torches worked. I guess I need to go back and rebuild my patch. Let me try rebuilding it and see what happens.

During installation of Fran's base mod, we recommend the following options:

Shivering Isles version(Optional)
MOBS
hardcoe Loot
Separate files (Required! CRITICAL!)
Living Economy(Optional; Never use at the same time as standalone LE!)
Optional items add-on(Recommended! Requires separate BSA download!)
Optional chance of more enemies (Only if you picked SI option)
Optional chance of stronger bosses (Required)
Optional chance of stronger enemies (Required)
Optional leveled guards(Only if you picked SI option)

NOTE: The files marked required above must be installed even for a non-SI setup!

You can also use the day-length timer and respawn timer options from Fran's or from OOO, but it's probably better to set these options in your Bashed Patch.

Do NOT use ANY other Fran files except these.


The two statements I've bolded/underlined seem a little unclear.

My main concern is whether or not the following files from Fran are compatible and can be safely used, or are to be explicitly avoided:

then manually add import script to OOO.esp and then rebuild patch with it selected under import script's.

you did use BOSS or have Automatic Tagging turned on in bash right ?

And you did follow the quick bash tag guide that is posted in first post of this thread right?

Yes updated to lastest version of bash and re run boss after you get it installed, make sure to read the bash help guide to better understand how bash works has fcom requires that in order to work with other mods.

and remove MMM City Defences has you are using Better Cities Version Instead.

Just one more question: Am I correct in assuming FCOM also covers and thus I should leave out Mart's Monster Mod - Shivering Isles.esp? Mart has it under the optional section which is why it was slightly unclear.

Thanks I'll do that now. I didn't realize there was a new version out. I kept wondering why I was seeing things saying AIActors or other things but wouldn't see the option. I'll also get rid of the unneeded stuff. With those they are deactivated all ready, Do leave them like that or can I delete them from my list?

MMMforSI will overwrite most of the changes that Frans SI would make to Npc etc..But it was by design of course todo that has

MMM for SI has add more SI Creatures Varations and few New Creatures has well to SI world and will give you alot more types of Npc that are geared with either Frans or OOO equipment or Warcry or Bob's etc...All the goodies of MMM in SI faction fighting , New types of Zealot and Hertics etc..SI bandits, maruaders, etc..Some elements of frans are still retained but not much.

question in the read me it says the mod with a + is merged into an active bash patch mod, If it's a file that I want to have activated to I need to make sure it has a check mark or is it active when it has a +?

EDIT also Import Cells, do I do anything with that or it doesn't matter if i don't see it in BOSS? I didn't see anything in the read me.

Yes. FCOM, itself does not touch SI, not unless you count using the optional SI options in Fran and/or MMM for some reason...

Thanks. Getting rid of the doubled-up Fran versions of Dungeon Chests and Adventurers seems to have resolved my Dungeon-based CTD issues. Go figure! =P

Got another one for you: On the first page of this thread at the bottom is a note about some Optimized Frans New Items and New Creatures BSAs by Arthmoor. (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZAENT2I2 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NB1V4HTS)

Are you recommending we use these instead of the ones that come with the latest version of Frans? They are almost twice as big for some reason, but say they fix a lot of meshes and such. Just wondering if they are compatible/built for the same version (4.5b).

EDIT: I'm guessing it must be compatible, otherwise you guys wouldn't have included it.

OOO is the last thing affecting is aside from the bashed patch (which changes the radius and sound);

Due to having one crash where I was dropping something other than a torch though, I think it has to do with dropping any item while a 2-handed item (or 1h+shield) is equipped, as that would explain the crashes when I draw a weapon/1h+shield while having a torch equipped, or trying to equip a torch from the menu while having the weapons drawn, and the rare occurance where it crashed when I had weapon+shield drawn and I had dropped some armor

As a side note, I have tried the default OOO version of drop-lit-torches, and the OBSE one, both cause me crashes when the above scenarios happen; Does OBSE have any issues with 64-bit windows perhaps? All my mods run just fine without OBSE, but if I turn ON obse, then I get the crash when dropping items; Currently I was just using OBSE for the stutter remover/streamline, so it's not a huge deal, just weird

Anyhow, here is my load order again, I added a couple of optional mods once I disabled OBSE, but the crash doesn't occur without OBSE anyhow, so they shouldn't be the issue
