And, do I need this PYFFI stuff I am hearing about? That didn't exist last time I played either.

It's not required to get your game up and running. Many mods are already optimized, and if you've got a reasonable rig the difference in performance with the rest is negligible. If you decide to investigate that option later, that's fine, but right now PYFFI adds just another layer of complexity.

Heh, I think my machine is too advanced for oblviion, so I probably won't need much optimization.

Okay, I am stuck on step one, how to install Fran. I am using wyre bash, I dragged the whole .rar onto wyre bash installers tab, then right click run wizard, I go through the pages and finally there is two lists, sub-packges and esp/ms ... I can either hit back, or Cancel.

Edit: Nevermind, I fixed it, if you do not maximize the installer window, you cannot see "apply these selections" check box.

OOO 1.33 Does not come with an esm. I have a meshes, textures,sounds folder, and OOO folder, instade the OOO folder is a full, lite, and addons folder, none of them have an esm file.

Before you add anything else I always advise to take a run through Vilverin across from the main tutorial exit. You'll find a variety of new enemies and items that the mod adds. If you don't hit any snags there (apart from dying) you can be almost certain the mod is working as intended.
I'd advise securing a save before you enter. Enable godmode (tgm) on your way down as it's exceptionally unlikely that you'd survive the lower levels with a new character.
After you finish your trial run you can revert to your earlier save and try it for real.

Once your satisfied the mod is working as advertised then you can start further additions.
As always, add a few at a time, testing them as you go.

Now go hurt something.

Ive hit my first patch of non-critical errors.

First, I am missing meshes... All along the anvil docks.

Second, some races are missing skins, meshes and eyes.

Third, Oblivion crashes on exit. So the sound bug is back, causing me to reset my sound device in windows 7 every time I quit oblivion.

Otherwise I can load, save, exit just fine.

For crash on exit, get FastExit v2

Not sure what meshes you are missing. Did you start with a clean install when you installed FCOM?

If you pyffi'ed your meshes, did you folllow the advice ont he leading spaces on some meshes that get renamed when you move them in Win 7?

I do have Fast Exit, yes its clean install, no nothing is puffi'ed.

As for meshes n anvil, and example is at the end where there is a cart [east end] and a chest. Between the cart and the chest are two missing meshes. And also I guess lamps or something are missing, they are spread almost evenly down the docks.

I'll try to get a screenshot.

I actually think the missing meshes are supposed to be crates.

Apparently the Race Balance Project has installationfiles I never got. So that should fix the race issues. Now for these yellow meshes. I know one of the mods in FCOM changes how containers look after you use them, maybe something went wrong for that and there are no container meshes?

Your errors are not stemming from anything FCOM related, and you certainly didn't take the advice I offered in post #133 by testing your installation and then slowly adding more to your mod list.
I can't help if you wont help yourself. :ermm:

You did not follow my advise and test your FCOM installation as I suggested or you wouldn't be starting your game in Anvil.
To me it looks as though you took for granted everything was working and turned on the rest of your mod list.
Regardless if FCOM is properly installed or not, add a couple of mods at a time and then test your game. If that means playing for half an hour to check one mod install works as it should then that's the way it must be. Rinse and repeat until your proposed mod list is complete.

There is no shortcut to a modded Oblivion.

I did that, I added FCOM, loaded the game and ran around a bit, then saved and exited, then I added alternative start, and every time after that I started in anvil. All I added after was the difference between this mod list and the one I posted before. The one from before worked, then this one didn't. I try to make a bashed patch and wyre bash fails. Not much else I can do.

I guess I can go make a post in the Wyre Bash thread, but I really don't prefer to be active in 5 different threads all talking about the same thing.

Use FromID Finder that I linked in an earlier post. That's going to highlight the mod your missing meshes are coming from.

If your doing as you say and adding in a couple of mods at a time then you will be able to tell which mod Wrye Bash fails at.


edit to above - Your now starting to waste my time. If you'd follow through on given advice then you wouldn't be cross posting across several threads.

Edit: I have it working, without crashes. I will play for an hour or so and then slowly readd mods. I'll post again if anything occurs.

If a mod is highlighted red, that means it's got the exact same time as another mod. Just go over to the right side, under Modified, and change the time or date (it doesn't really matter which), then hit Save. Assuming you don't get the same time/date as another mod, this will fix it, though you might need to put the mod back in its proper load order.

As for the missing meshes... have you installed Harvest Flora.bsa?

Oh, and II and Cobl Filter aren't supposed to be active. Read the Wrye Bash readme - it will tell you all about applying bash tags, importing, and merging mods.

Launch the game in window mode and check the memory usage to see if it exceeds 2GB when game crashes.
Though 4gb patch allows Oblivion to use more than 2GB (for 64-bit system only), the game still crashes easily when using over 2GB.

I used the 4gb patch. I'll test around a bit to see if its using over 2gb when it crashes.

I just played for about 10 minutes and it crashed using 714,000 kilobytes. So no where near 2 gigabytes. Also, I only play it in windowed mode.

I know you're anxious to update your FCOM install, but because of a change in how the mods interact with each other, OOO 135 will not work with the current release of MMM/FCOM. You will likely get all sorts of unpleasantness if you try. This release of OOO was a precursor; we're quite sure it is stable but wanted to pass testing to a wider audience to make sure OOO is working correctly by itself across a larger base of hardware and game configurations. If there aren't any problems, then the bsa at least will likely go final. The updated versions of MMM and FCOM (to stitch the whole thing together) are still in closed beta awaiting some finishing touches ... should be released soonish (I hope). We're just as impatient for release as you are--it's a fine product that runs smoother than ever... can't wait to see what you think.
