RelZ] FWE - FO3 Wanderers Edition #41

Post » Thu Feb 03, 2011 9:50 pm

Aww i guess i have to admit - second time today - that sometimes i'm just a regular idiot. I used bullet time regularly (even got the first perk to increase its effectiveness), but mostly only while using melee weapons, however it didn't cross my mind to use it while sniping enemies. The very first weapon modification i performed was to mount the scope on a hunting rifle, and i was a tad annoyed when i realized that the scope moves that much (does it get better with higher small guns skill?) - using bullet time makes so much sense, and yet i never tried it. Haha :D

To reduce the scope sway put more points in Small Guns (I hope you tagged it) and get your weapon to 100% condition. With max skill and max condition the hunting rifle should have no sway at all unless you get a crippled arm.

I use a variable zoom mod myself. It's a bit cheating I suppose (scopes do not work that way), but it's so convenient.

Well, "tagging skills" in FO3 doesn't give you more than a point boost at start, right? In that case it doesn't really matter what skills are tagged.

Tagged skills provide an immediate +10 bonus. Each point spent raising tagged skills during level up raises that skill by two.

Ah, i see, i was already wondering why that happened with some skills in my last game xD. That means i have to think about my character setup again. Thanks for the info, Tubal!

Also, it says there that the vanilla skill point books now provide perks. Are there no more skill points with books or just some? What about the comprehension skill? In the description it says "Skill Book Perk ranks expanded to 7 from 5, and books required to uprank reduced to 3." I'm not sure what to make of it.. could you please clarify this?

Books don't provide any skill points, but by reading four of each book you gain a perk that provides bonuses for the skill, you also need to have high enough skill to read the books. With the comprehension perk you only need to read three books to gain the perk, and can gain more ranks for the perk.

Ok, so let's take the book "http://sites.google.com/site/fo3wanderersedition/reference/perk-list#TOC-Book-Perks-" as an example. As far as i understand it now i get 3% price reduction every time i read this book. After reading it 4 times (3 times with comprehension) i get a bonus to the barter skill. Is this correct, and if it is, does that mean that i can get the bonus two times with the comprehension perk?

You get the price reduction perk after reading four Jerky Vendor books (three if you have comprehension perk). You do not get barter skill bonus from the books. You get another rank for the price reduction perk after reading another four books (or three with comprehension), third rank after reading another set of books and so on. But never skill bonuses.

Ok, bear with me.

First of all, from the FWE site:
# There are five ranks for each book perk (7 with comprehension). You need a minimum of 40 skill to read the first book, and an additional 10 skill for each rank after.
# You need to read four copies of each book to gain a perk. Comprehension reduces this requirement to three books.

This is totally confusing and i'm still not sure exactly how this works.

From what i can gather it works like this (Jerky Vendor example):
1) I need a barter skill of 40 to read a copy of the book.
2) I read four copies (all at skill level 40) to gain the 3% price reduction or three copies with comprehension.
2) As soon as this happens, i reach "rank 1" of this perk.
3) Now i need a barter skill of 50 to continue reading these books.
4) I read another four (or three) copies to increase the effectiveness of the perk (another 3%?)
5) Now i'm "rank 2".
and so on...

Is this correct now?

Did the benefit of putting Nuka-Cola's in the Vending Machine for your house get "nuked"? Is there any benefit to the machine now other than looks?

Not only do they look good, but they taste good too!

I use them, just for my knowledge of how awesome an ice cold bottle of coke tastes after being in the hot sun all day. No in game effect. So once you have enough to "throw" away, then you can use it! :twirl:

Is anybody working on a patch to make the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5059 mod more compatible balance-wise with FWE? I would love to use that mod together with FWE.

Here's a question I've haven't seen addressed:

1) Does your barter skill impact how much ammo, stimpacks, etc. you get from the Outcasts when you trade tech to them?
2) Does the FWE merchant configuration where you determine how high merchant prices are impact how much you get from the Outcasts?

Thanks.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say no to both. I don't know for sure but common sense says the rewards are fixed, being part of dialogue trees and all.

1. Will be in FWE 5.1 Barter, speech and level of trust will determine your overall reward and assortment
2. No.

Thanks for the info.

Another thing I appreciate about FWE, beyond the mod itself, is how quickly questions are answered. Again, thanks!

Hi, quick and easy question.

If you choose the Outcast alternate start, does the Brotherhood attack you?

Edit: another few

Does the Enclave refugee have the ability to wear power armor from the start? I forgot to look when I played around with where they all started from.

If you're a ghoul does the brotherhood attack you? Do ferals attack you as a ghoul?

Outcast's and BoS are "neutral" in FWE . . . so they will not attack on sight, but be careful because they won't tolerate much screwing around.

Enclave Refugee cannot wear power armor (must have been more of a science type!)

Ghoul . . . I don't think the BoS will attack you, they shouldn't. Ferals won't attack you either.

Thanks! Now just to decide to RP as an Outcast or Ghoul :)

And just as a side note I thought it was a little odd that you got a boost in big guns as an outcast but you started with the Laser Rifle.
