Well, do you think nGCD can completely kill the skill- attribute connection like SPAM does? Thats the distinguishing feature from other leveling mods.

I do not know what you mean by "kill"? I think you can do that with KCAS, been a while since I converted. That is not possible with nGCD, but you could possible change the numbers enough to imitate that...maybe...


Edit: I happened to have the KCAS manual on hand. You can do that with KCAS.

Edit: Change the Restoration advancement speed with Progress' INI, not nGCDs. I misspoke earlier...fatigue...

Bad choice of words of my part. It makes it so i don't have to raise sneak etc to raise my agility.

Example.

If i pick the combat specialization i get +4 to endurance and strength, if i pick them as favored they are plus 5.

If i pick magic as my secondary specialization willpower and intelligence are +3

So skills don't make determine how much an attribute goes up per level.

Now for the big question: Is there a way to accelerate skill leveling? Because I'm having trouble leveling certain skills like Restoration for example, even though I'm spamming it all the time :(

That's just a "beat around the bush" way of me saying, "I cheated" without bruising my ego. :P When I say that, I mean I use console commands to get the skill increases, but still sleep to level up. When I first started playing Oblivion, I found myself always level grinding to max before I started any quests, just so I could get top tier leveled loot. Eventually I got tired of doing that every play through and so started using the console commands to "simulate" the leveling process. I figured since I beat the game fairly the first couple of times, it wouldn't hurt to cheat somewhat.

How do I disable harvest containers. I hate that feature. I still haven't figured out why the containers located outside will not open properly in my game.

Harvest containers would not stop containers from opening. What exactly is the problem you are having?

Not sure why Tomlong recommended nGCD when it comes to this (and, no, you can't configure nGCD to mimic SPAM), but Progress is the way to go - you can customize it however you like and it works with SPAM. It also has some nice addons.

Killed the Patriarch just outside of the dungeon and went back in to sweep through and make sure it was all clear, only to find a Mud Golem still about. I thought maybe the Mud Golem was one of the originally spawned enemies, but his corpse fully disappeared after my companion and I finally managed to kill it. Probably just a fluke though.


Man, if you can kill a Vampire Patriarch at Lvl 1 you shouldn't have any problems with a Gargoyle. But using a companion unbalances things of course. Guess the summon thingy might be caused by the summoner and summon being in different cells.

Harvest containers would not stop containers from opening. What exactly is the problem you are having?


She's having problems with containers not opening. Really weird as I've never heard about the issue before. Don't think you can disable HC, though. :(

Hey, I corrected myself (as best I could at nearly 1AM in the morning with a dying brain...) :(

I was recommending nGCD + Progress as a good leveling and skill rate combo, but then I meant to focus only on leveling. I also said that nGCD cannot be configured to mimic SPAM (or, at least I think I thought I had) but KCAS could be.


Edit: Actually, I think my brain is still sloshing around in my skull... :(

I do not understand the conclusion. What do the starting bonuses have to do with how attributes increase? Are you saying you can change your specialization at levelup to give different attributes bonuses?


Edit: I spent a lot of time looking at leveling mods in the past, and I had read the SPAM description a little. Your example is a little lacking in detail, but I think understand what SPAM does now. KCAS and nGCD do not do that at all. They are smooth leveling mods, and SPAM offers a slight variation of the Vanilla, choose attributes to advance at level up method. The difference is that the bonuses are fixed on a per attribute basis, dependent upon your specializations, and are available regardless of what skills you advanced, right?

You could configure nGCD to act like SPAM.


:shrug:

And, yes, nGCD and Progress is a nice combo but the OP didn't ask for that. He asked for help speeding up Restoration. Recommending nGCD doesn't help - it's just confusing IMO.

Well, maybe I need to give gargoyles a real try then, but to my experience they are still somewhat hard to kill at higher levels. Once they hit you with a spell, it doesn't even seem like you can damage them much unless you have an enchanted weapon. As for balanced or unbalanced, I guess it's a matter of preference and perspective. I only have OOO Lite installed with the Birthsigns, Daedra Lord Quests, Dangerous Traps, Magic Game Settings, and ThiefGuild Difficult ESPs installed. There are a lot of things I like about OOO including the added content and the fact that it's modular and I can tailor it, more or less, to my liking. IMO, with OOO Full, having the harder monsters, more damaging weapons and such is alright, but then the health you start with is reduced on top of that? A little too over the top for me. Maybe if all NPCs had a similar starting health formulae as the player in regular Oblivion, instead of the other way around, intrigues me more than giving the player the handicap to make things more difficult. I've never really liked that in any game. Again, it's a matter of preference, but I tend to put down my controller and go do something else if my whole time in a game is spent doing nothing but dieing constantly. I'm not saying OOO needs to be changed, just giving opinion.

That said, I do appreciate the fact you guys went out of your way to make a OOO Lite options for finicky players like me. :)

For starters, I am she, not a he. Second I want to disable the Harvest Containers scripts. I have raised this issue at least twice in the last couple of years and while it is not common, I am not the only person who has had this problem. The problem, which I have described previously and in detail, is that after the animation starts the script stops and the game just hangs. The opening never completes and the player controls never return. This only happens with containers that are outside, and by outside I mean not inside anywhere, including cities.

This issue does not appear to be a conflict between mods either. It shows up whether I am running OOO lite with 1.33 patch as well as with OOO 1.34 fully patched. I have tried running OOO with no other mods active as well as a number of combinations of mods.

Sorry for the he - I changed that. Also sorry, but I have no idea about what you can do about the issue. I've already given all tips I can think of. Have you tried using the standalone HC, loaded after OOO? It will break lock bashing for vanilla containers, but I guess it's more important that you can open them in the first place.

I tried that on the laptop that died over a year ago. I seriously doubt it will help.

Set OOOHCPlayerHouse to 0
Turns off HC for player house containers:

Set OOOHC to 0
Turns off HC for chests, cupboards, desks, drawers and lecterns

Set OOOHCBarrelsAndCrates to 0
Turnsoff HC for barrels and crates

Set OOOHCSacks to 0
Turnsoff HC for sacks

To reverse this substitute 0 for 1
