[RELZ} Scout's Refuge

Post » Tue Apr 20, 2010 2:42 am

I finally finished the basic portion of this mod and uploaded it to TesNexus and PES. I'm excited about it, even though I have some improvements lined up that I already want to make.

Scout's Refuge adds three open tents that are retextured portable Mournhold Bazaar tents, five retextured portable bedrolls, and two portable yurts. The yurts are retextured to show the materials that are used by the tentmaker to make them, and they are a bit different. :)

There is also a quest involved that should be challenging and also different from simple fetchit quests.

The mod is http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31940 at TESNexus, but I don't know how long it will take to get through the process at PES.

Also, if anyone knows how to contact Shannon who made the forest tiles resource, I'd like to let him ( or her) know how I used them.

Some screenies:

The Netch Tent is a really brilliant Idea. I think that the Forester's Tent should be less bright though, it looks rather out of place and obvious. And the Mages Tent should have more Stars instead of Moons, but it's good. :)

I thought about the forester's being too bright, but... there is one tent not represented in the screenies, and that is a more or less plain old Bazaar tent in it's ashland colored camo looking gray. I kinda figured that that one would hold the camouflage interest.

Somehow the screenie for the Guar Hide exterior is missing from my screenshots, so I'll have to add it later.

A note of explanation and apology...

I used tes files to pack up the mod for publishing, and somehow it didn't see fit to to include the Bookart folder (which had one file) and the sound folder (which also had one file). Compounding the error, I didn't catch the omission when I examined the file after packing it up, so...

If you are one of the approximately 60 people who first downloaded the mod, and you are getting missing file errors, the two files are now available at both TES Nexus and PES seperately from the main file. The main download has now been replaced with a complete version named "ScoutsRefuge_All" and it has the files as well.

I'm terribly sorry for any inconvenience.

Well, this is embarrassing.... but the file I thought fixed the issues named "ScoutsRefuge_all" only corrected a tiny part of the issues that the mod had. I've now got it all corrected and working as it should, so the new file is available at PES and tes nexus.

what happened is so strange, if anybody has experience with tes files maybe you could answer a question.

tes files wouldn't handle the textures that were in subfolders placed by nifskope, so I had dug out the files one at a time and put them in the folder for compression. Somehow, the mod was resident on drive C and tesfiles is resident on drive J, the paths were altered to indicate the texture files were on drive J in the compressed package, and of course the files couldn't be found when the game loaded after they were extracted.

I hope what I said made sense... Is this a common experience with tesfiles?.
