(RELZ / WIPZ) P.W.R.P

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:48 am

Okay, so I got back to modeling weapons again. This time I'm going for lore friendly stuff, I've had this project on for quite some time now so here is something to continue with.

P.W.R.P: Goldbrand

Next releases will be Ice blade of the monarch, Umbra, Magebane and my Ebony weapon replacer. I'll be bumping this thread whenever
I get some updates done :)

This will be interesting, would love to see all the vanilla weapons modernised yet kept within the same style, i look forward to seeing what you come up with :)

Seeing that this was now released on PES, I decided to download this and try it out in-game, as it really looks great :) Unfortunately, equipping the sword caused the game to crash, and checking it in the CS gave me this error message:

TES3Stream Warning: Model "Meshes\w\W_art_katana_goldbrand.NIF" tex not found "c:\program files\bethesda softworks\morrowind\data files\textures\fo\fo_goldbrand.bmp"!

Any help?

Sounds like either the texture is missing, or that the texture
path in the .nif is actually assigned as...

c:\program files\bethesda softworks\morrowind\data files\textures\fo\fo_goldbrand.bmp

when this should be the actual path...

textures\fo\fo_goldbrand.bmp

The former would work if you have Morrowind installed on your "C" drive, but
is not ideal for any mod (whereas the latter is the more universal setting for
textures that use specific folders)

'Tis an easy fix in NifSkope if this is the case ;)

I doubled checked the textures and their there alright, so this must be a pathing issue.

When you open a mesh in Nifscope, you should have a node tree on the left. Open them until you find the ones labeled "NiSourceTexture" and double click on its value (which will be the texture path) to change it.

It should look a bit like this (although you'll usually have several NiTriStrips nodes):
NiNode- NiTriStrips-- NiTexturingProperty--- NiSourceTexture

Yes! It worked :D Thanks! Though the problem isn't over yet; Fallen-One still has to fix the file in the DL. Hope he sees this soon.

Hmm, could you guys help me change the texture filepaths? I don't really know how to make the nif to read just from textures folder, and I've always made the path to C drive since its the default install path.
Anyhow, Uploaded Chrysamere.

Follow Karpik's instructions, and use "textures\fo\fo_goldbrand.bmp" as the path :)

Great! If I could make a suggestion, could you tone down the glow for Goldbrand just a bit? It seems rather...Bright in-game. Hope this isn't too much to ask.

I'll see what I can do :) at first I tought that playing with that much contrast would ruin the metallic look completely, but I'll try something out

Of course they are, I'd consider myself somewhat experienced Milkshape modeler. Some of my models are my very own design as well :)
I think I'll update the texture path fix and a bit better textures along with a couple new models I'm working on now.

These are really great! :D Not sure if I'm interested in these as replacers, but would you be willing to allow their use as resources? I'm having some ideas... ;)

Sure you can use them :) I've said so allready on the PES site as well as in the readme.
I see no point in not letting people use stuff made for players and modders for free anyway :D

Not bad, but it isn't my taste. I like your original one better. There is a point where things can be TOO shiny, which is the reason I don't use half the weapon mods in existence. It looks really jarring against the rest of Morrowind.

Agreed. Overall it looks pretty good, but I also find it to be a bit too shiny.

I like it too, but I agree with the others that the shine should be toned down a bit - it makes the blade look like it's wrapped in gold foil.
