chess is a Board game.
It is indeed (and that fact is irrelevant)

that's jumping to conclusion to quickly, i didnt made any mistake its interpreted it wrong...
it doesnt matter which genre whas first if they couldnt provide a normal implementation for RT games back than, like i said even today AI developers take into account Hardware restrictions and back than they neither had the juice nor gew of the approaches for AI's implemented today.
Could you rephrase that a bit... I'm not sure I get the meaning... but if I were to guess, I'd say, "so what?"; Fallout1 did not need 3d navigational AI, and would not have benefited from it ~what's yer point?

Look TB is not what you seem to believe.

its not? its doesnt make a board game representation instead of real life combat
You would seem to believe that TB games are attempting (and failing) to represent real life combat.
Would you as well say that the Mona Lisa is a crappy rendering of a Roman Centurion? ~Its not trying to be.

TB is only good for board games and rare strategy games or for slow ppl who dont like the pause option in RT games,
Slo people huh... riiight. I take it you've never watched a game of speed chess.
*As I mentioned before... Pace is irrelevant You can play your turn (in almost any game) as fast as you please.

TB is quite a simple AI. It basically just dices. People usually bash FO3 combat AI, however what is more advanced? An AI that considers several pathways, surroundings, and other variables, or a mere Stack with dices being rolled? What is more interesting, play combat in real time or play or play fallout 2 chess?

Real time will favor fast thinking. As you say, people who play TB will usually take eons to make decision. A mere battle can take forever.
See my comment above

 If I had the choice between playing an off the shelf shooter and playing Chess with a Fallout commemorative Chess set... No contest , I'd sell this computer to buy the set.

BOS VS Master, with vaults as rooks, BOS Knights VS NightKin; Master and Overseer kings, Vault Dweller and the Lieutenant basically filling in as the queens (no jokes :nono:); Centaur Bishops and Floater pawns VS Mr Handy Bishops and BrainBot pawns... It'd be too cool :tops:
