Post » Mon May 10, 2010 6:49 am

Is anybody interested in seeing Fallout 1 & 2 re-made using the GECK in the new engine?

Because the stories were awesome and the new engine provides an opportunity to re-tell them in a better medium. There is a ton of back story out there and I know I'd love to see/play them using the new interface.

Never played them, but they shouldn't be remade.

Nope. This engine is suited for first person gameplay, the classics shall remain in turn based combat and isometric camera. There is no need to remake them. The patches were enough to fix the bugs.

My memory may fail me, but I think at least F1 is already in the making by a group of modders. There was a topic about it in the mod section.

But I'm not in favor of a remake.

I can already hear the screams: "It was not enough that Bethesda [censored] up the series, now they are [censored] the classics up too!" :P

I voted "No" only because I didn't have an option for "I could not possibly care less".
If they remake them, I won't play them and if they don't remake them, I won't lose any sleep.

I voted yes, because I never played the first 2 and I won't since they are turn base. But in the current engine with first person perspective, sure I would buy them and play them.
It will never happen though, I don't believe.

Then go play the original first is my suggestion. There is no need for an "update" IMO. They would be better off just making new ones.

I would like it however if they were to bring the originals to the consoles.

Remakes are basically cursed upon conception. Either the developers hew extremely close to the source material, which gives them little opportunity for their own creativity, or the developers get to play with the material and the original fans are (understandably) upset with the changes that have been made.

I'm much rather have developers do something they really want, with the ability to bring their own ideas in to it. A franchise restart is one thing (and that's largely what Fallout 3 is), but an actual remake doesn't interest me.

I Played those two way back in the youngen days and then I played them again after Beth Announced the third installment.....man I was still laughing at some of the bits in that game, truely remarkable.....to be honest it wont feel them same....some of the interactions like talking like a Retard
(No offense intended) because of limited Intelligence, getting pick pocketed by little children, shooting the bastage coordinating them, working my ass off trying to assemble parts for a derelict car, selling myself the Human desires.....buying bodies for human desires, loving a ghoul, Harold, those games weren't rushed Devs took their times since 2003 it seems games have been rushed to the shelves as quickly as they can...yes Fallout 1/2 had Bugs...lots of bugs..but they're gone and we had limited technology back then....now times have improved and still up to patch 1.6 and we still have problems.

Still I'd love to see FO 1 and 2 from a firstperson perspective and not as a god who takes pity on his/her/it/their Creations and decides to manipulate one to do ones bidding ^_^ those times have come and gone and where quite pleasurable.

Also, the rights for FO1/2 are held by Interplay, so if (and they won't) they do remake the games, they'll be isometric and turn based, pleasing the former fanbase :)

The only thing that's putting me off getting the old games is the isometric and turn based thing

I want to be control of and fully participating with my character, I don't do third person, and wouldn't touch VATS even if mine did work[Except maybe to RP a character who had to rely on VATS for the sake of RP]

I want to do it, not watch it

Some people [censored] about how much better the writing and storylines were in the old game so now I'm curious

The FPS/RPG standard by which I judge this game is Deus Ex so yeah, Beths writing does not seem to be one of their strong points

If they save themselves the time and expense of doing what they are not best at by lifting plots, characters and dialog from the old games it strikes me as a win/win situation

No remakes, they are classics. I'd kinda like to see a prequel to FO2 with this engine though. Using the some of the same characters, and all the weapons. Idk, just an idea.

Odd to remake something you can still run on your machine without a lot of work. I'm amazed at people's inability to get over such a small thing as isometric or turn based.

If they are going to do a remake, and by today standard, it would be pathetic as to many of the content in the Original would be let out do to the rating system.

I would vote hell no and and if ya want to play the Original, play it the way it was suppose to be made by.

I wouldn't buy it. I already have the originals and see no point in buying them again only to see the landmarks in first-person 3D. And I have large doubts that Bethesda would not touch the original's SPECIAL or any other aspects that made the classics better than their Fallout 3.

I find Fallout's 2D Graphics to be very, very good. Not the best I've seen, but one of the best.

No, it wouldn't add much to the gameplay, and the early Fallouts were nothing like as good as 3 anyway.

System Shock 2 was modded with later graphics ... interesting, but the game-play is just the same.
