remake Morrowind as an expansion pack

Post » Fri Sep 03, 2010 10:23 am

I should elaborate. The information on Yokuda is almost nonexistant and the Redguards have lived (supposedly) exclusively in Tamriel for a long time now. It is never explained HOW it was destroyed or what exactly it being destroyed entails, so it could still have people living there even. I have not seen any actual source saying it was 'sunken', simply 'gone' or 'destroyed', which is very ambiguous. I don't even understand how a continent that big COULD 'sink'. Also, this is 200 years later. Lots can happen.

I believe it was sunken by earth quakes, although Redguards seem to believe it was a result of something of their doing. I guess it could pop up again, but I don't think so because that already happened to Thras with the Sloads. But really, who doesn't want an Atlantis-style under water city populated by mer-people.?

oh still just ash
and it really wouldn't be Morrowind, it would be more like Black Marsh

Personally I think Bethesda destroyed Vvardenfell to stop folks from asking for Morrowind 2. :obliviongate:

That's the imperial library page and similar info is on UESP. There's nothing about it sinking, and the nature of the destruction is debated and unconfirmed. All anyone seems to know is that they don't live there anymore (supposedly).

No, according to some people there already was an oblivion 2, were moving on to oblivion 5 now. :shakehead:

According to some people, Oblivion was to be Morrowind 2. You'd be surprised at how many people seem to think Morrowind was the first Elder Scrolls game and with the number of people so greatly disappointed with Oblivion, I know they were expecting Morrowind 2. Ah, gamers...

high rock would SERIOUSLY make a good expansion- its so small compared to the other provinces.

That's why its perfect its a lot easier then making Cyrodill with all the cities and quests etc and high rock is big enough for an expansion

How about a Solstheim expansion?

That's probably the most reasonable request I've seen. We'll have all the Skyrim style items that may match that nordic theme. Just have to remember that Raven Rock was gone before Oblivion even started. It's mostly wilderness anyways.

That seems like a horrible request just for the similarity, to me. I like expansions and DLC that contrast with the original game, as Bloodmoon did with Morrowind and Shivering Isles did with Oblivion.

Given the time and cost to make and voice a game, that is highly unlikely they redo it as it was ; a bit less that they do it as it is, but still unlikely. It's better for them to do completely new content, as some want ; in the end, after all, it's highly unlikely the nostalgic will be anything but disappointed if they try it. I know I probably would be : it'd never be up to par to what I remember. Even Solstheim would be unlikely : two expansion packs in the same place ? People would say they re-ash old stuff.

But yes, I do so hope they is going to be at least one expansion pack in a new landmass. I did love Solstheim and Mournhold even better than I did Morrowind. :)

How would high rock really differ from say Oblivion? Looking at Daggerfall, high rock just looks like your sterotypical fantasy game. Not an interesting enough enviorment I'd say.

Yokuda is gone, sunken, sowwy. Unless it is now populated by a unknown race of mer with fish tails and gills. Mermaids?

Not 100% so. I'm pretty sure I heard a NPC in Anvil tell me about docking in Yokuda for trade.

Yeah. Swords that can split atoms, that's what.

I haven't played Daggerfall, but for whatever reason, I've always imagined High-Rock to be very gothic/Victorian, which would be quite different from what we have and would be interesting to see if they made the style evolve to something like that over the 200 year timespan. if they made it Victorian in style, or similar to that, I would love to see it as an expansion.

Several potentially interesting places that can be covered in expansion packs:

Provinces:

-Summerset
-Valenwood
-Elsweyr
-Black Marsh

Other places:

-Yokuda (collection of islands west of Tamriel)
-Atmora (if it has melted again)
-...

Plains that can be visited

-Boethiah's Attribution's Share (think Jim Henson's the labyrinth)
-Molag Bal's Coldharbour (think the 'real' world in the matrix)
-Miridia's Colored Rooms (several connected realms)
-Hircines Hunting grounds (has enormous animals/monsters)
-several Sanguine's realms (has enormous parties)
-...

So why Morrowind again?

Its not the most unique environment granted but its still a great place which does need a bit of exploration and If I recall with daggerfall was random generated the reason with high rock is it would be nice to explore it again
