I remember a forum like this for another game

Post » Sun Oct 24, 2010 3:42 pm

I can remember playing Stalker 2 (PC game) a few years ago when it was first released and that had alot of bugs that made the game unplayable in many areas, some of the bugs being similar to the bugs everyone in Fallout New Vegas are experiencing, such as NPCs disappearing or not being where they are supposed to be, game freezes and crashes in the same areas when you entered them. Some bugs even made the game unfinishable in Stalker 2. Anyone who has already got Fallout should persevere because eventually it will get totally fixed gets totally fixed (I think it took a couple of months for Stalker, the russians got this game a few weeks before the rest of world got it). I have not got the Fallout game yet and wont be getting it for a couple of months when hopefully it will be fixed and another reason is that in the Stalker game when it was fixed also corrupted all my saves so I had to start again and I dont want this to happen if I buy Fallout.

Did anyone else play Stalker 2 when it was first released, which one was/is the worst for bugs?

And another thing. I read in some post in this forum about Fallout getting a high review score ( I think it was 7.5 in Gamespot). Stalker 2 got a review score of 9,0 from a review (cannot remember if it was Gamespot though). So, a buggy game does not mean a rubbish game.

Though I haven't actually played S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2, I'm informed that it's worse in bugs than New Vegas.

You must mean Stalker: Clear Sky, because Stalker 2 was just announced this year.

It happens to every game. The amount of rage threads Oblivion and Fallout 3 got were the same, it's just people forget because bad things didn't happen to them.

Just as with any game, the people for whom the game works are busy playing and/or living their lives in happiness. So, you get complainers on the forum for the most part but don't forget they're actually a very very very small percentage of people who bought the game.

I could not remember the full Stalker title but yes I did mean Stalker Clear Sky, and although it started buggy it was still a brilliant game.

The forums for World of Warcraft and Age of Conan were a spectacularly entertaining cluster[censored] around launch. Now the WoW forums have become worse than 4 Chan, and AoC just got dead -- but that game, despite the protestations of the more zealous fans, was doomed by some really basic and really bad design flaws.

I wasn't around here for the launch of Oblivion, but I don't recall the Fallout 3 forums being all that bad. Well, except for the "ZOMG this isn't Fallout!!1 diaf gamesas!" threads, of which there were a few.

It's a given that the version of the Gamebryo engine Beth uses is dated and not all that optimized to begin with, but this game really did ship with some pretty flagrant how-the-hell-did-that-get-past-Q&A bugs. They're on it, they'll get it patched, but this kind of thing can really erode consumer confidence in a brand, and that is bad business.

Hopefully whatever comes next A.) is on a new engine and B.) goes through some more rigorous and extended bug-hunting.

STALKER 2's not out yet. Maybe you mean Clear Sky or Call of Pripyat? Or hell, even Shadow of Chernobyl. All of them were buggy at first, mostly with performance issues.

I saw a forum like this just month ago, over at the 2k Civilization V forums. Not only was the game buggy and had a poor AI, it also changed many of the game mechanics from the predecessors. This place seem very friendly compared to the rage that place had.

I still cannot believe people made rage threads about the removal of stacks of death.

You want to see some major nerdrage? Go to the official Team Fortress 2 forums after literally every update.

The rage after Polycount was especially amusing.

Anyway, any game is bound to have bugs and problems. And people are going to complain about them on the forums. The thing is, you'll see more people making threads about the game's problems than people making threads about how well the game works for them.
