Remember when Todd said DLC will feel like expansi

Then there is Peter Hines claiming they can't do multiple provinces
Yet Elder Scrolls Online is delivering all of Tamriel to your doorstep
And of course MMO are harder to pull off because you need connectivity, transaction, chat, reliability, client-server, play-balance ...
So he was stretching the truth ... a lot !!!

You do realize that ESO will not feature the entirety of Tamriel at launch, right? ZOS has also been working on ESO for several years too...

They are DLC. You are obviously too young to know what real expansions are.

Obviously your too much of an idiot to make a better argument than age.

Here let me give a better argument. Take off those [censored] nostalgia glasses.

As I recall they promised 3 expansion size DLC, and hinted it would be larger than any expansions they had done previously

They made no such promise. At best they said there would be "multiple" DLC that "feel closer to expansion size". That has turned out to be true, or at least not clearly false, since there are at least two DLC that, arguably, feel closer to expansion size. (These two DLC added fairly significant new quest lines and new areas to explore).

Add to it all the rumors of province size expansions early after release, supported by videos showing gateway to other provinces

Nothing to do with Bethesda.

There were no promises of provence sized DLCs, and those gateways are aesthetic to give the illusion of a bigger world. Where people got the idea they were for DLCs is beyond me.

99.99999% sure he was referring to doing more then one provence in a single worldspace. I bet you anything, TESO either has loading screens between regions.

And before you cite something like WoW for having full continents, WoW has little to no LOD, so seeing from one end to the other of the continent is impossible. They used a method of unloading everything you don't have line of site with.

I disagree with you on a lot of that, but thank you for making your point intelligently and maturely. Cheers.

Well, think of it this way. Bethesda said something fairly vague---"feel closer to an expansion size". Has that turned out to be clearly false? No. Maybe it's a borderline case.

Should they have been more precise? Maybe. But only if they were in a position to be more precise. Maybe at that stage they weren't entirely aware of how much content would be in one of these new DLCs. In that case, it's entirely appropriate for them to remain somewhat uncommitted, and just say something like "well, they'll be bigger than FO3, but maybe not as big as a full blown expansion pack like SI or BM".

I think it's entirely plausible that Todd Howard was being about as honest and as informative as he could when he made those comments.

I also think it's entirely plausible that the decision to stop making DLC was made fairly recently, so when they've previously said things like "there'll be more Skyrim updates/content" they were leaving the door open for more DLC because they weren't sure themselves whether there'd be more DLC.

What I think is that more than a few people who shot me down in flames when I first raised this around about this time last year (and having been proven correct several times in the months since), are now eating **** sandwiches, which aren't even labelled as jelly or jam anymore.

As I said back then (and since), far too many people read far too much into far too little of what is said. However, regardless of that being the case, it doesn't take a lot of effort for someone from Beth to read the reaction on their own forums, to see how the community or at least an active part of the community, is interpreting what the statement was...and therein lies the deceipt. If they knowingly see that the perception is different to the reality of what Beth actually intended, then it is both ethically and morally correct for Bethesda to clarify matters, preferrably on their own official, sanctioned and run website...not to add fuel to misinterpretation with the latest info-techno graffiti of tweeting further misinformation or murky half-truths.

I'm not angry at Beth...there's nothing to be angry about. I do find their 'public relations' effort to be more or less the video game industry equivalent of 'genuine falmer blood elixir'.

Yes as big as it was but it didn't feel as an expansion pack at all.

Didn't people learn by now not to trust anything that Todd or Bethesda say?

Personally, i'll be taking any news they have on VI or any of their games with a grain of salt from now on.
I never believe much of any word that someone from a wealthy corporation has to say, or any other type of elaborate rich hierarchy. Proof comes first for me, otherwise their words fall on deaf ears when it comes to me.

As those pages are not meant to be comparing the content of the expansions, they can not be used to reliably distinguish which has more content then the other.
