Removal of the third person button

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 3:00 am

With a dragon shout button and a sprint button the removal of atleast the third person button seems inevitable. LB the place where it was last would seemingly be a good place to put a sprint button. Personally I am not too upset about the removal of this rather useless button.

Do you guys agree.

It's confirmed that you can play in 1st and 3rd person: http://www.vg247.com/2011/04/18/dragonborn-again-bethesda-shows-skyrim-in-utah/

Wasn't it always accessed by pressing down the right stick anyway?

But then... how else does one go into third person? (Unless you can just zoom out into it like on PC.)

Mostt likely by hitting start and toggling it on or off. My guess is bethesda will try to make it so people play eaither in third or first person the whole time. Third person will no longer be a view so one can see their character but something that is supposed to be used full time. Bethesda trys to make their third person view betterin every game, it never works though. :woot:

Sprint = OB's Run button
Dragon Shout = OB's Block button

I don't really see how it needs to be changed at all. Also, I highly doubt it'll go into the options menu simply because 1st-3rd transition should go instantly by the press of a button. But cannot rule it out either, at least if they're keeping the Block button after all as a separate key. But blocking can be defined in a number of ways, triggered and/or conditionalized, etc.

Now that the options a like the radial menu in NWN, It's not impossible that the 1./3. switch is found there, either. That'd be much less awkward than going into an actual menu and scrolling down to find the "Third Person View On/Off" switch.

I don't have the necessary words to express how much I hate that idea and how much I hope you're wrong.

If it actually support full TPP play throughout, I'd be impressed, and not mind a bit ~I'd appreciate it; but I don't think it will be that way.
But who knows its a new engine right? Maybe it treats ceilings differently.

Let's see off of the options for the 360 they'll have to combine the UI with the basic menu otherwise they'll need another button.

PC users are lucky they get 36 different buttons if they use a keyboard.

Yes, and I doubt they'll change it. Of course it was different in Fallout 3.

back button more than likely on the 360. It's the "useless" button for gameplay since you have to reach for it but works well for opening menu's etc. Given that the menu is mapped to B, I would assume the "back" button will be the third person key. Don't know anything about the PS3.

It depends if the 'wait' feature is in the game. PS3 equivalent is the 'select' button.
