The difficulty slider never really added much

Basically how I read the difficulty slider:

Less health for enemies <------------=------------> More health for enemies

IMO add something like daggerfall where the enemies move faster or something (that really made daggerfall difficult when they moved faster )

maybe add a diverse difficulty system ...

Health of Enemies : 1/4, 1/2, full DOUBLE

pretty much like mount and blade, they had it down.

aka friendly fire 1/4 1/2

battle speed : slow, normal, FAST

NPC speeds ETC.

One thing that really bothers me with the difficulty slider is that it only affects combat :P

So, according to your poll, either have difficulty be set to the way the user wants it, or be forced to one of three settings.

.... Yeah, I can't see a single benefit to your "Easy, Normal, Hard" Those would be more ore less equivocal to 3 points on the slider, without any options. Gotta go with the one that gives me more options.

What DEFRON said. More options is something good, instead of three fixed diff levels.

I'd actually like it if a slider was added, which would be the hitpoints slider. Move it to the left, and everyone is vulnerable and goes down in a few hits. Move it to the right, and it takes an age and a half to kill someone.

I like the difficulty slider, because you could they the difficulty to you're liking.
For me, I like to have soe challenge while also having it kind of easy, so I put it about 1/4 of the way.

I like having it.

I always keep it pretty low, because if you hit something with a sword a couple times it should die. You shouldn't need to just stand there hacking at it.

I would like to see two difficulty sliders, one that influences enemies health and one that influences yours... Mostly because I'd love to play where 2-3 shots kill you and most enemies are 1 shot.

Barring that as an option I'd leave the slider as it is, limiting the options of difficulty adds nothing.

They should keep the slider, but tweak the difficulty all together.
Combat should be swift and deadly for both the player and the enemy.

Oblivion combat at a reasonable difficulty feels like you're swinging a blunt sword under water and at a low difficulty it feels like you're a killer robot from the future.

This.

The difficulty slider is one of those many things I wonder why people want to be rid of, because it subtracts absolutely nothing from the game. Yes, it would be nice if the "difficulty" was something more than just increasing or decreasing enemy stats, but removing the slider altogether isn't exactly a solution to that.

The only thing the difficulty slider determined was how early you can kill guards (in MW at least).

Since I never use the slider, I don't really care. So, just leave it as it is, would be fine for me.

Please, I'd rather just have something simplistic like Fallouts.

I prefer the sliders but I wouldn't have a problem with Easy, Normal, Or Hard. :flamethrower: :fallout:

Sider all the way. In all honestly I'm just going to play the game at the easiest settings cause mods like MMM made OB a lot harder...so wouldn't mind if there was no slider. But I understand why most people prefer slider...and what the people want the people get :celebration:

I say not only stick with the slider, but also split it up into several, maybe even connected sliders (like during character customization).
Let us fine tune what we like, but not allow ridiculousness. If making something super easy, something else becomes harder.
Most of all I'd like a timer slider. I would prefer playing fully in real time rather than accelerated (day lasts only a few minutes) time.

No. The difficulty slider is one of the few things in Morrowind and Oblivion that I can say works flawlessly. In Oblivion I lowered it slightly just to remove some of the tediousness in most battles. It shouldn't take THAT many strikes with a longsword to kill a bandit.

Sliders for me, if I am having trouble in one spot where I keep dying and I need to get through there then I don't want the daunting feeling that I am on "Very Easy" I just want to move the slider down a notch.

they should actually make the higher difficulty setting feel realistically challenging not outright impossibly hard...this kind of excludes the seriousness that is put into stats and making weapons and potions so that you could survive on a harder difficulty but with a challenge
