Remove Melee Punch for Kinetic Blast push with no damage.

Post » Tue Dec 04, 2012 3:27 am

The melee was horrible in crysis 2 will it be the same? I would love to see more nano powers like Blast(Wave) Kinetic stealth kills etc.

I don't really get what you mean by those nano powers but I agree the melee was just **** in Crysis 2

I dunno. I hope Crytek keeps it, but honestly, you can't kill a person by punching or kicking them. Hurt them yes, kill them no. I really hope Crytek gets their physics straight in Crysis 3. They messed up in Crysis 2, this may be their only chance to revive their reputation...

I agree. Removing or dumbing-down melee would really improve the game.

uh, that's where we get the term "supersoldier" from. In real life, no we couldn't kill someone by hitting or kicking them, in crysis we can. and I don't know about you guys but I don't find anything wrong with the melee. Takes 2-3 hits to kill, and you can counter it by shooting them (if you have good accuracy that is)

Well, if you want to take into consideration all the values of a supersoldier, you have to take into consideration defense as well. True, if you are a supersoldier, you can probably kill another person in one or two hits, if you're hitting a normal person. In the case of Crysis 2 MP, everyone is supersoldiers, so as we have stronger hits, we also have stronger defense. I remember playing Crysis 2 MP a couple of weeks ago...
I like to roll with a Mk60 and Defense for the majority of the time. I was turning a corner, defense on, and a guy (not ganna take names) comes up to me and melees me. In a couple of hits (less than a second) I'm dead.
I dunno though, I think this topic should be discussed a little more, we can't get the whole picture with only a few guys.

That's where you're wrong (if you are talking about multiplayer) - if neither player has a gun that kills instantly (eg. shotgun), then whoever melees first basically wins.

This is why we need the old nanosuit back. Want to punch someone to death? That's what strength mode is for. The melee system in Crysis 1 was perfect.

Of course you can kill someone by punching or kicking them, prisons are full of people who have done just that.

Hell, every time someone gets KO'd in sports there's a risk of serious injury, and that's usually with protection of some kind, involving people trained to deal with hits (trained better than soldiers, for whom unarmed training is extremely basic).

What an absurd statement; even eliminating the fact that this is a supersoldier.

well to quote something crytek said a while back,"that's why it takes more than one hit to kill." I agree with you about the whole whoever hits first usually wins though.

I can kind of see this Topic swaying into a different direction, so I guess I'll make sort of a final statement (on my part)...
For those of us who played Crysis 1 MP, we liked the way the melee worked. It wasn't overpowered, but it wasn't underpowered either, we liked it the way it was. Crysis 2 changed a few things, and we didn't quite like it. I guess having the good 'ol Crysis 1 melee system back would be nice =) .

Just a little note, I guess the thing to keep in mind is that in both Crysis 1 and 2 MP, the server admin has control over a lot of stuff, including how much damage is inflicted by an action. Now when renting a server, you don't have access to this, but if you're running a custom server you do. I guess what I'm trying to say is that when you join a server, you know the way things are going to run. You joined the server voluntarily. You do have a right to complain, but not one to demand a change.

Seriously, you want to turn this into some sort of FPS Star Wars?
What kind of supersoldier are you when you can't display your awesome powers of strength and speed through kicking cars, punching a guy's skull in, or using speed to pummel an enemy into the ground?

I don't care if you're a supersoldier or not, I don't want people to die by getting melee'd a couple of times. I hate how Crytek "CoDified" the multiplayer gameplay.

Except it wasn't a whole lot different in the original.

IIRC melee-ing someone in strength mode used to take just 2 hits to kill.

And what of it?
You said you didn't want people dying after a couple of melee attacks, I'm saying that has always been the case.

But by all means, try and move goalposts to save face..

I just don't want close range fights to become "whoever presses melee first wins"
