What difference does it make? It's not as if saying you were a certain class gave you any advantages.

Perks are what specialise you now and make your class.

In first i was worried about class system removal, but now i think it was a good decision.
And i am happy that we can choose our birthsign later in the game too.

I like it. I mean in one character I had speech-craft and Illusion. Then I realized that charm spells make speech-craft completely useless. And then I just had to play the rest of the game with a pointless major perk.

Considering TES always went for a classless system, yes, it's a good thing.

To be honest, I don't really mind. I used to build my own classes anyway. I don't think I ever played a preset one, except for my first playthrough in Morrowind.
I guess the leveling will be faster that way.

Now that I've heard Pete's explanation (that xbox interview recently), that they wanted to remove as many of those "set in stone" type of choices from early on in the game as possible when no one really knows what they are doing yet, I understand it and completely agree with the decision. And so do the 500 characters I made in morrowind and oblivion that only have an hour or two of game time in them. ;)

I think the leveling and perk system in Skyrim is far and away better than the Oblivion system.

The thing that it really means for me is not restarting 4 times because i didnt like my starting character. I must have wasted 12 hours in oblivion just restarting. This system will be much more organic that it was before.

Landslide victory :celebration:

Yeah, classes can still be a lot of fun when you have a part of poeple and each once is (relatively) specialzed, but because there's a bunch of you, eeverything is covered. When you're on your own, I LOVE the idea that you always have the opportunity to train yourself to be not just okay, but great at anything and everything. It's fan-[censored]-tastic.

the classes were nothing but templates on what skills you could take at the time.

you could learn any skill taking any class

I like the new Class system, the only thing that i don't really like about it is that you can't name your Class :o

There are RPGs without class systems, so its not a revolutionary idea, therefore, whoever is mad about this simply doesnt play much RPGs.

94% poll results lol. Couldn't agree more. Instead of being stuck with a class, I play what I wanted.

I know what kind of class I want to make and play and as long as they give me the option to be able to do that my way then I'm all good with that. Still don't like how they removed the attributes though but thats another discussion.

I think it was a good idea.

They removed the whole "Oh jeeze I picked something wrong, time to re-roll a new char."
On the other hand, specialization is apparently really important, given the limited perks we get (about 50, then it becomes god awful level grinding after that.).
So even if there are no classes, we still get to have pretty specific Builds. Which is pretty cool, I think.

It's up to the player, whether he wants to make his char grow how he plays, or try to "recreate" the old class presets. Pretty viable.

it's probably for the best. I'm sure a lot of people were turned off by specializing useless stuff in Oblivion and regretting it later. I can't say for sure until I play the game tho.

I'm indifferent. I don't think it really matters in the grand scheme of things, because choosing a class didn't lock you out of anything, but it would often set your major skills and have at least a couple that were useless.

This works better, to avoid folks making inadvertently bad decisions that are impossible to be overcome.
