[Q] Rename saved games?

Post » Thu Feb 20, 2014 5:36 am

I'm letting my roommate play on my computer because he doesn't have a computer that can handle the game.

When you save a new save, it generates a savedgame that is auto named save 1, save 2, etc. Is there any way at all to have the option of changing the name of the actual save? It's very annoying to go through the individual saves looking for the one that matches my champion vs my roommate's, especially because when you overwrite the save it changes the number on the save file.

Are we stuck with this unhelpful system?

Thanks

Open up the command console and type save where is what you want to name it.

EAsy way? Not really.

You could make a folder, and archive your saves before you let him play.

Console Method:

Save Name 1

Makes a save game with the specified name. The name has to all be one word or enclosed in quotation marks.

Example: Save Oblivion 1; makes a save named Oblivion.

But really, the optimum way, is to make your friend a profile on your machine, then make him log into that to play the game. Then he has his own My Documents/My Games folder so this does not become an issue.

Just to add... You don't even need the "1" in the above command, unless you want an accompanying text file to be created. That text file is used for debugging and to extract info about the save file.

Save Oblivion would make a save named Oblivion (I'd name it something else, though. :) )
