Renaming weapons?

I'm not sure if this is in the right place, but here goes.

I think it'd be pretty cool if you could rename weapons in the game to whatever you please. I think in the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout, a gun would be more of a friend and a companion rather than just a tool. After all, it's the difference between life and death. We got close to it with the weapon modifications (After all, nothing was better than taking a Brush Gun from your first killed Veteran Ranger, modding it up, and keeping it for sentimental sake.)

So, if you had a specific Hunting Rifle that always seemed to find it's mark, be reliable, and save your ass in situations, you could rename it "The Lifesaver", or if you going for comedy, you could just rename them to fit specific inside jokes and the like.

It would be fun, and immerse you a little more in your character and the Fallout world.

No offense seems a little pointless. Guns a gun just call it what it is.

I suppose it could be used in roleplay, Like having a 44.mag that a lawman roleplay might consider important and call it "one shot" or something like that

I'd like to see that feature. It would be simple enough to implement, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

This was wanted for Fallout 3 too, and was available in Oblivion via enchanting weapon, armor and accessories. IIRC it was deemed impossible in Fallout 3, though

I would like this feature as well, and there should be a restriction to not be able to call a weapon something that already exists.

I wanna call my Anti-Materiel Rifle The Deathclaw Decapitator

Yes this is what it's why it would be liked for many, though I'd personally fell silly doing so despite being silly in everything else I do.
Naming a gun just seems too phallic to me, even if named Mary Rose or some such.

It was here as well in the NV forum, a few times even after I joined.

Strange that it was possible in Oblivion and Morrowind however, maybe it was a crafting / repair issue due to changes in FO3.
