Don't know if it's worth adding to the pinned "known errors" threat, but a corrupted MGE install can cause this too. I suddenly suffered this error last week after a machine hang exiting the game, and re-installing MGE fixed it.

Thank you, I will try this. I have been having the render creation error, however it only happens when I try to hook my laptop up to my TV. If I am running my laptop regularly, Morrowind runs great. But when I connect the laptop to display through my monitor, I get the render creation error, unless I play in windowed mode, which I don't like. But I will try to re-install MGE and see if that helps at all.

Well I don't know if it was specifically MGE or what, but doing the re-install (which included an install of Tribunal and Bloodmoon, along with the most up to date patch) got Morrowind working on my laptop with the TV as a monitor. So I will credit your fix, and say thank you!
