Render Unto Caesar won't start (glitch?)

Post » Tue Jun 29, 2010 9:38 am

Hello there!

I have a problem continuing my search for the Platinum Chip: The quest line Render Unto Caesar won't start after completion of Ring-a-Ding.

I've let Benny take a hike, I've been to all the factions and spoke to Yes Man (no other options there).

I know I am supposed to be greeted by Vulpes Inculta (or some other guy in case he was killed) upon leaving the Tops, but instead it's Yes Man standing in front of the Tops.

Is this a plotstopper or am I missing something?

I'm stumped right now.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Stupid thought.....try entering and leaving the 38, if you haven't already.
Other than that....sounds like a glitch, unless there's some quest-concept issue I don't know about/maybe someone else knows. You can try to reload an earlier save.

Oh, I've been to Mr. House before, of course. And I'm playing the PC version, fully patched, BTW.

Will try an earlier save next, but that's two (real-time) hours away...

Ok, here's what's happening:

Upon leaving Mr. House (something like "You'll be approached my someone (by Caesar's Legion) if you haven't been already", The House Always Wins II starts) I am greeted by Emily Ortal of the Followers.

BUT: still no Render Unto Caesar.

When in Cottonwood Village Boone says, "This is the last time we'll ever enter a boat", but there is no boat. Maybe that's bwcause I've "cleaned" the whole area before...

Strange.

There's never a boat. If you're not hostile with the Legion/no Boone/haven't cleaned out the Cove, there's a npc boatman there. But if he's dead, just look down at the 'raft' near the end of the pier and you can click and go to the Hill on your own.

...I guess you have oars in your backpack...

Bullseye. A little elbow grease just did the trick. Sorry for all the hassle. I must have quite "vilified" the Legion along the way so much that they won't even speak to me anymore.

I'm glad this is resolved. Thanks, Lady (Queen?) Crimson!
