[WIPz/RELz] Reneer's Dialog Mod

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:27 pm

This looks pretty interesting; I may have to give it a go sometime soon. However, I must ask: would it work with UI overhauls like DarNified UI?

At the moment, it is not compatible with any other UI mod that modifies dialog_menu.xml. In later releases it will be compatible.

:woot: Hawt ! Now that you've figured out the UI a little more :P, how about adding a spacer b'ween each response ? Please ...

PS : Does this version need DarN 1.3.2 ? Coz' I remember reading that the messageBox scrollbar need it ...

Now, If I have this right - things an NPC says are added to the box on the right as he says them - but everything he's going to say on a given subject, not just the current line? It might be nice to see the things the player says too - kind of like a transcription of the conversation:

So from the screenshot:

Audens Auvidius:
The Imperial Legion is at your disposal citizen, what seems to be the problem?
You:
Imperial City
Audens Auvidius:
When the city is quiet

It might make it a little clearer how the conversation has unfolded, given the circular nature of some OB dialogue.

Looking like a very useful mod though - especially once it's DARN friendly.

If possible, it'd be nice to alphablend the background a little :-)

Excellent work as always,

HeX

Does not require DarN at all. And you read incorrectly. :P

Seems possible, perhaps I'll add it in for the next release.

...

This. I was going to suggest this, but I thought it would be a pretty popular idea, so I did a quick ctrl-f for journal, and what do you know! Anyway, this is wonderful, and a journal functionality would be bloody brilliant.

Looked at examples in Oblivion's own XML files (dialog_menu.xml) as well as looking over some of DarN's code.

Is there a way that you can darken the names of the people, to make them stand out? I am talking about when they say something, and there name appears before there words.

This mod has a chance of becoming probably the most simple, and most popular mod of all time. By simple, I mean you are just adding something that we take for granted in real life. that is being able to read entire messages, and by most popular, I mean MOST POPULAR!

Yes, changing the text (in fact, it can be made into Oblivion "HTML") is very possible.

Hmm. Since I already do this (sort of) it wouldn't be hard to add it into the mod. Not sure what it would be useful for, though I get the feeling you already have an idea (though after some thought I would assume you would want to create a journal of info obtained from NPCs.) And I don't have any issue with you making a plugin (unless I get there first! :P) but I just want to make sure that this mod is very easy for users to put into their games. When I started working this mod, I kinda got the feeling that it might be a 'Big Thing.' :P
Nothing particular in my mind but if the info is stored it will be relatively easy to re-create the dialogue-journal from Morrowing. Where you could select any topic you got a response for and then have it sorted by date together with the NPC that said it.

Like I said, I was planning on doing this myself but even then I had no idea what the interface should be. So it was just the storing info I had planned, thuse I thought it might be simpler to see if it could be in this mod. I do however, have ideas on how to store the info so if you don't have the time right now or aren't sure how to handle it I could probably make a quick mockup script. :)

Reneer's Dialog Mod 0.91 Released!

0.91 - Added a shiny interface with a scrollbar.
It is getting better and better each time I visit this thread. If you ever need some help with the XML files I will gladly offer my services. :)

Likely not going to happen at all. It's just too complicated and it would look pretty horrible.

A pity :( ! Have any more items on your to-do list for this mod ? And does the latest version incorporate the following changes :
. The name of the actor who talked the response : For instance, something like Rohssan(formatted in bold or something alike ) : Welcome to A Fighting chance.
. A spacer b'ween 2 printed responses.
