I'll do another clean save.

Eh, didn't work. Maybe I didn't clean save right. Should I save in a new slot when I clean save? Does it matter?

Yes, you should generally use a new slot at all times.

The appropriate method for clean-saving is described in RGO's ReadMe.

I'm trying to work on the problem from my end, and from what I've seen I may have figured it out. Though now my worst nightmare has come true: I hit MAX_SCRIPT_SIZE on the Guard Rings and so I had to remove some useless code...

Have you tried equipping the RGO Config Ring and clicking the Reset to Defaults button? That seems to be a common troubleshooting fix that people skip over because it just seems too simple. It should be renamed to "Click Me To Fix RGO". If you have and it didn't work, then... *shrug* No idea. D:

I've been having a lot of trouble with guards or certain aggressive-but-not-enemy-faction NPCs seeing me and screaming assault.

Just now a dremora soldier (from the Daedric invasion mod) was attacking a leyawiin guard outside the barracks. I ran in to assist (I had bound weapon, armor and Midas Beserk active), I didn't even have time to attack and the guards starting screaming assault, once they dealt with the dremora I had a 40 gold fine. I resisted and they contineud to scream assault, and each time they screammed assault a new geroup of guards started to spawn outside the guard barracks, after about 30 seconds so many guards had spawned that the framerate was down to like 1fps, the leyawiin castle courtyard was utterly full and the game crashed.

I would need to see your RGODebugFile.txt in order to figure out what the problem is. How to get it is outlined in the first post in this thread, as well as the ReadMe.

Wish I'd spotted that earlier, I have pluggy/OBSE installed but didn't know where to lookfor the debug (I did search for one). I'll see what it says next time that happens.

Just post the one you have for now, and when the error comes back just post that one.

I'm going to code in some ways to get them to go away for the next release. Possibly something like threatening them with your weapon, maybe bribing them, etc.

Since I posted that message I'd played the game normally and it was over-written, the more recent log had nothing of note in it.

I just went back and tried to replicate the scene in leyawiin but the guards didn't respond in any way out of the ordinary, and the apparent overload of guards was simply because the leyawiin barracks has a LOT of soldiers and they all pile out at once with their torches which causes an incredible hit to the framerate and wasn't due to a bug. Another point where I suffered this bug was during "Unfriendly Competition" in the crypt. I subdued the graverobber rather than kileld him and he called the guards who knocked me out and threw me in jail (A developer oversight not RGO related)

From then on, the moment that Argamir saw me, he'd scream that he was being assaulted and the guards would grab me again. (I eventually resolved this issue by killing everyone including thw witnesses - whcih i might add is a lovely touch. I don't have any saves near there so I can't try that out again)

Ah - great.The "mystery attack" bug and crash repeatted itself. In this instance I'd just been into Roland Janserric's house as per Order of the Virtuous blood quest. I exitted his house (unseen) after pinching a few items duringmy visit and walked across the temple ditrict temple square. As I did so the music changed to the battle track and I narrowly got missed by a silver arrow from a guard near the gate, I then realised allthe guards had their swords and weapons drawn and I now had 40 gold bounty which I didn't have before.

The soldiers then sort've spasmed and kept getting out their swords and then putting them away (they didn't ever try arrest me they just started shooting), and after 4 or 5 repetitions it crashed.

Edit:on further investigation i get the impression the guard that triggered it has some kind of token so that when she sees me, she attacks. However I have no outstanding fines in the IC and the last time I did commit a crime there was a different pair of guards and happened before I installed RGO (About 19 game days ago)

The thing is, he did attack that guard at one point in time, because that line only pops up in the log if this is true:
	if (canseeplayer == 1 && actor.GetCrime player, 3 == 1)
That means that if the guard can see the player AND the guard knows about the player attacking him (GetCrime player, 3) then he will attack the player, which puts a bounty on the player, which gets all the other guards within range into the act. I'm trying to figure out a way to remove the GetCrime returning true, but so far I'm not having much success.

After loading up the game from a save in the IC district - a guard comes running up to me and engages in dialogue for no apparent reason. It happens each time I wait - (I was waiting for an NPC to arrive home) each hour at a time.

This behavior could have been/is caused by Duke Patricks new Hammerblade mod. So first I deactivated the mod and that behavior stopped. Need to test that more.

Well they didn't want to arrest me, but they did swarm around me and constantly enganed me in dialogue repeatedly - over and over. There was no escape except exit the game.

I'd gotten this behavior before after accidentally hitting a guard in battle.

I was getting messages that the NPC Duke Patrick (from his new and very beta mod) was yelling assault several times after I defeated him in battle. Of course Duke just put up a new version of the mod - I will test with that.

I'm wondering if this mod takes into account instances and behaviors from other mods like Vows and Covenants, Kuertee NPCs Yield, Choices and Consequences, Duke Patrick's Hammerblade - when every fight does not end in death. When a yield or a duel happens but death is not desired.

I'm having the same problem as others. First is a neutral conversation after, lets say, attacking a guard, then the conversation repeats itself if I choose to resist jail. If I choose to get arrested, a guard comes to my cell and attacks me <- not funny. If there are multiple guards, they all of them give me a normal speech and the last one sometimes acts properly. I'm using the newest version 1.97a.

Well Reneer, I fixed my problems with guards not acting properly when I attacked them. All I did was revert back to 1.97 from 1.97a.

As I've said multiple times before, 1.97 is broken. The main script crashes within 5 seconds of the game starting up because there is a line that runs that crashes the script while checking for a quest stage.

Not exactly. Simply because the main script is broken in 1.97 doesn't mean that the Guards scripts are broken in 1.97. Aspects of those (like Guards not attacking one another, etc) are left intact.

I've discovered something that may help. It seems that the victim is often re-adding the crime token to the player character after it has been dealt with which is confusing things greatly for the guards and is the likely cause of them getting stuck in a loop of intercepting the playe, clearring up the problem and then intercepting them again:

< This loop of cleaning up the ring, then re-adding it to the player continues for about 3 pages>



In this case the "crime" was real though still erroneous. A horde of dremora bashed through the gate to Leyawiin, I ran to take them on and during the fight Dar Jee (who was in a"fleeing" state) pushed past me and got under my lance as I attacked the Dremora commander; he yelled assault and I got kicked out the thieves guild andall the guards got the hump with me. After the fight was over a guard moved to arrest me, I resisted (to try charm him and get him to clear the bounty since it was small and erroneous) and he kept stopping the fighting and giving me the dialogue again. I cleared the debt succesfully after 4 or 5 tries then another guard ran up to me and it crashed.

I only hit Dar Jee the once I might add and there's literally hundreds of rings added/cleaned up in the log

Edit: And again here (Clipped a guard at the end of a fight which he took as me attacking him)

The same thing happened to me, only I hadn't hit anyone. My guy fought two Land Dreughs at Ft. Empire, then was riding peacefully up the hill when two Legion guards galloped up and arrested him... they let him go without jailing him (149 Fame, 0 Infamy), but kept capturing him and letting him go again, until I finally gave up and quit. Yeesh--that's the worst case of mistaken identity I've ever seen--my guy is a Priest! :facepalm: He had no bounty at any time... the log (sorry, it was overwritten when I changed to another profile) said it was 0, and referred to two civilians who were reporting crimes, but I never saw anyone.

Does the 1.97 version works normally? Or is it as bugged as 1.97a? And is there any progress on the fixes?

1.97 is the version that is broken. 1.97a has some bugs I'm still trying to squash, but they are proving elusive and I'm having issues reproducing them on my end.
