Renting Video Games

I only rent/borrow games if I'm unsure if I will like them enough to drop $60.

I remember my friend bought Fable 2 on release, paying $80 for it. He beat it in a few days. One day I grabbed it from him, after I beat it I gave it back. Few months later I saw a retail copy of it that included the DLC, so I grabed it, was $15. Ended up palying through it again and through the DLC. That was a really good game. I borrowed it and ended up buying it.

I borrowed SF4 from my one of my friends, at the time I only had one controller so I took a controller from him too. It was fun and my roomies was really feelin it and it was a game we could all play together so I got SSF4 and another controller. Next door neighbor grabbed it for the Ps3.

Borrowing ftw. Keepin it old school.

I never rent because there is no video game rentals in my area. Before buy games, I always watch the trailer and borrowed from friends before purchasing it. Because the price of original games is quite expensive for me, so I have to make sure that when I bought it, I won't regret it. I won't let the 'two world' incident occurs twice :ninja:

No I don't rent. I used to rent games back in the day when Blockbuster was all the rage, but you don't see them too often anymore lol.

No

Yes

PC. I used to be a big console buff but with the advent of my discovery of Morrowind the PC became my main gaming platform. Though I still hold my Wii and PS3 in reserve for those certain exclusive titles that I just can't live without.

I don't know if it's even possible to rent games over here... Or where they do it. I always buy them. Preferably with a heavy discount. :P

I can't stand borrowing things, makes my skin crawl. On the renting side of things, at our rental place it was like 7 bucks for 2 nights so i said f word that.

Most games i play i keep around, and they are replayable. Plus now that i play most games on my pc i can't really rent them

I never used to, it was always some £7 for 2 nights and that's just scandalous. However, there's a site (boomerangrentals) that let's me rent a game for a month for £3.50, and if I want to have it for two months, well then that's £7. Switch the games when I get bored, once a month at the most for the package I'm on, but it works well for me.

And I'll borrow them if they're offered, and I'll always offer games if I'm not playing them (and I trust the person won't break them).

Renting makes no sense to me since it really takes days or weeks to play most games through. By that point, you might as well buy it.

Gamefly might be a good idea, but I could never really sell myself on signing up for it.

Renting doesn't make any sense to me... It's a waste of money. Sooo here's what I got to say

For me it's a very very very long process to be sure that I will get a game :turned: -

I first find out about the game, then go find what the ratings were from about three different sites, then if I am still not sure I will see if my friends have it, and if not I go looking for it to see how much it is. If it is cheap (for used games) I will get it. If you aren't totally sure about buying a new game, I would wait until it comes down in price. Never ask the people in the store, such as gamestop or blockbuster, for their advice. All they will do is tell you how much the game svcks. To test this, I picked up gears of war two (a game in which I adore) and they told me it was the most horrible game they have ever played. LIES!!!!!!!

I got alota friends who play video games so we have a network of borrowing games. We trade consoles and video games with each other. If one of us owns a copy we all have open access to the game, well except for those first few days right after the purchase. Theres no need to buy every single video game. If my friend has a copy of Mass Effect 2 theres no reason for me to buy it as its a one time play through thing, after hes done I will just grab it from him. But a game like Black Ops, that can be borrowed but you really need your own copy so you can play online together. Theres no reason why not to borrow games, especially when your real cool with people. I've been doing the borrowing thing since NES!

High five, dude!

I stopped renting games years ago, I have many friends who buy many different games so if I'm not too sure about buying a specific game I just ask one of them. Actually, I have a friends who buys almost every good game out there, I wished he'd ask me to lend him a game once at least but he already owns all the games I have. :(

Do you rent video games? No. I have done it in the past but i prefer to own my games.

Do you just borrow them from friends? No but it does happen that my friends borrow from me.

Do you always watch the trailer's before you buy it? Usually, especialy if it's a game i am looking forward to but no, not always.

What is your main system? XBOX 360

I figured out a long time ago that I could buy a used game for the same price as renting a game. Since then, i've never rented a game.

No, though I have rented 3, maybe 4 titles in the past. I just buy them (mostly) used once the premium price drops. There are a few exceptions I'll buy day one new, such as TES and Fallout series.

My friend and I swap PS3 games on a temporary basis.

Back in the era of the original Playstation I used to rent games, but now I just buy them if I want them. I'm primarily PC user, but used to be more PS2, and I have DSi. I used to get games without a lot of info but now I always research first.
