Repairable Houses in PC’s Settlements?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 8:35 pm

Could end up with a whole town full of drunks, drug rings, smuggling, slavery, fight clubs, and prostitution. That might be DLC! Could definitely see it being a mod.

They'll definitely miss a great opportunity if they don't expand on this settlement building thing, what can be more amazing than actually creating the form the new world will take.

This sounds like a lot of fun. Throw in the Perks for Party Boy/Girl theories this may already be a thing!

Mininukes. Mininukes happen.

"Building permit... revoked!"

...

I don't think NPCs are going to build anything, but if they did, they'd probably build something pre-made by the devs in pre-defined spots.

But they would be good slaves workers.

I think and hope we will be able to build more then just Post apocalyptic favelas...

Living in a PAU doesn't mean that a bunch of organized people could not build something decent.

If you look into the walking dead (comic!!! not serie) some of the towns are maintaned and for the people who are up to date with the latest novels, some impressive organisations even build whole villages.

So the question you have to ask your self is, did bethesda chose for us to only be able to build old planky town to fit the game design? Or when the game is released will be there place for more elaborated town design?

I didn't see any walls either, but also thought it odd seeing the raiders come into the settlement in the video and just run through an apparent death maze. It was like watching a Castle Defense game. But I kept wondering why they didn't just go around the deathtraps. Going over that bridge covered with flame-throwers and machine gun fire, when you could just walk around. Who does that?

Yeah I had to wonder if using Power Armor was kind of a lost skill to them and they had never seen anyone wearing it before or knew how durable it was. They certainly acted like they didn't know any better.

I hope there is an option to avoid the shanty town look, at least somewhat. I'd like for my settlement to look sort of nice and not like a smaller version of Megaton.

my guess looking how Crafting is tide to perks, that the shanty town look is a low level look, probably we can improve over it and unlock better wall and stuff like that.

I hope you're right! I really don't want to put my character in a dumpy little shack for the entire game! I don't expect everything to look brand new but I'd at least like the option to clean the mattresses and other furniture. I did not like those nasty mattresses in FO3. Drove me crazy as I would make some lye soap from my firewood ashes and scrub away if I had to! :)

I wouldn’t mind building a Shady Sands style settlement, you would of cause need settlers making mud bricks in a brick workshop.

Yes we need clean mattresses, and comfy chairs. Also my kitchen and bathroom will be clean. No reason not to look after yourself a little in the post apocalypse  Hopefully someone will make clean furniture mods for us, if they don't already exist.

Oooh...wonder if we can get running water again! That sounds like a good community effort quest.

This is why i loved Tenpenny tower in FO3 so much.

Last vestige of confort and a level of luxury.

I loved that place too! I'll be looking for mods that add in some home comforts, if the game doesn't let us do this already.

NV was similar if you wanted to move in with Mr. House. Not a lot of other options in NV though.

I'm sure that the SS, actually being from the year 2077, would prefer something that looks more like a home from that time period.

There's never any reason not to try and make a home comfortable, especially if you're a person handy with tools like SS definitely is already.

Only drawback was Mr House's casino suites were a little creepy :ahhh: ...hoping we can just make our own real base this time round. Really love that they've added this system in, has so many possibilities.

Tenpenny Tower was the best choice possible (only bad design with all the loading screens) I didn't feel bad for blowing up Megaton.

A city made of scrap metal, with water leaks and a bunch of fanaticks worshipping a nuke?! ... I did a favor to humanity

What concerns FNV I didn't like the Lucky 38, such a big place and nothing to do with it...

There will be walls btw they even mentioned walling an area off in the settlement building part of the video. its why the raiders went for that one section.. the only unwalled section in the settlement.

Agreed! After spending the day scavenging the dirty depressing wasteland, I want to come home and kick back in a clean house with non-blood stained furniture and relax. I also want Codsworth to bring me a drink and rub my feet, without cutting my toes off of course. Dogmeat should also have a nice clean place by the fireplace and my love interest should have a comfy spot as well.

Sounds fantastic! And completely doable, could probably even find or make a cosy fireside rug to complete the picture :tops:

That's good to know, I'll have to watch (and listen too) it again to see what else I missed.
