Is it normal to wait and wait and wait for the assistant's letter? I've done the White Phial retrieval quest about two months since, game time. I don't think I had done Throat of the World back when I did the first White Phial quest, but now I have. Does this have any effect? I've also gotten other letters during this time.

If I'm not getting the quest to start soon, I'd be willing to start it via console. But that hasn't worked either. Any help?

Not sure. Did you actually go and do other stuff or just use wait time?

You should be getting a letter sometime, from our favorite filthy-faced invincible mailman. Maybe he just hasn't caught you at the right moment yet.

It can take forever, but it will eventually show up.

Yes, you MUST have visited Throat of the World in order to trigger the repair quest. You will see why when you do the quest.

I know this, I've glanced at the requirements of a walkthrough. I have all-access there, and I've done the first Phial quest. Should be no reason why I'm not getting the letter.


Ah, yes, I've tried both. Since doing both White Phial, the quest, and some time after that Throat of the World, the quest, I have normally kept on playing. But now I'm running out things to do with my selfish mage character, so I thought of this quest. Now that I have not that much to do anymore, I've tried waiting three days in a row (24 hours x 3). Still nothing. Too bad the rest can't be interrupted in this game - I'd like the courier to do so.

I'm curious to see what happens since I haven't been spoiled about the quest yet, I just know the requirements after which it should've triggered.

I even tried console and added the letter to my inventory and read it. It cleared that only reading that letter doesn't start the quest. Then I tried some commands with the quest's early stage, like "setstage" and "setobjectivecompleted", and nothing. Visited the assistant at the shop, but he still didn't have any dialogue options. Just a random line. There are some commands I still could try, but I don't think they'll do me any good. I wouldn't like to use "saq" that starts all the quests of the game. If only there was a "sq"...



Plus now I don't know which one to believe.

I'm completely done with the rest of the game now too.

I did "The White Phial" quest very early in the game. I also did "Throat Of The World" about a month ago (real time).

I've run into the courier a few times since then but never get a letter from Quintis.

I've basically been playing a few hours a night doing random stupid things in hopes of it finally triggering. But at this point, if it hasn't happened by now, I don't think it ever will. I'm ready to just give up on it now.

Question for ya:
Does he (the guy dying) still talk when you enter the White Phial? Whenever I enter the store I still hear him talking from upstairs about loitering and people gawking at his goods. But when I go upstairs he's still lying in bed. And when you click on him it says "Nerilion is asleep and dying".
I think it glitched somehow.

Just another frustrating glitch in the game.

Yeah i have this bug aswell, still cant find any solution or a way to console command the quest to start.

It's been over a month (and about 200 hours) real time for me since completing "Throat of the World". Now I'm completely done with the whole game except for this one quest. It should have happened by now.

Same problem here. I've done like 99% of the quests (finished the MQ and The White Phial ages ago) and I never got the courier's letter. Got letters for other quests since The White Phial though.

We share the same thing: we did The White Phial before we had access to the Throat. I think the problem may lie herein. Maybe this will make the quest not trigger. What about you other guys who report this same problem? Did you, too, do the quest The White Phial before you had all-access to the Throat of the World? (That is, before the MQ Throat of the World.

He's asleep and dying as he should be, but haven't heard him talk that way you describe. Only once I've heard him talk as if he was still awake, but that was when I went next to him. Normally, he doesn't talk even then. Glitchy anyway. Could be causing this quest breaking, too, afaik.

Yep for me, White Phial before Throat and Repairing not triggering. Maybe that's the problem.

I had to wait a long time as well, don't worry. It comes eventually.

And did you do The White Phial (the quest) before or after having access to the Throat of the World?
