Repairing unique armor

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:17 pm

With skill books my repair is 100. I get a Powder Ganger guard armor repaired at Major Knight (100) and use it to repair Graham's armor. It repairs it to 100. The Powder Ganger's at Jean's Skydiving respawn, and I believe some along the railroad tracks also respawn. I think they respawn with random armor so that you can keep killing them and get the guard armor.

Tom.

Along with Knight, you can also go to Old Lady Gibson and Raul (the companion) for repairs. I prefer to use just one most of the time because that way they end up with a lot of cash you can get back when you go to sell loot.

Just swing by one of the 100% repair NPCs when needed. To repair a item from 0% to 100% it'll cost 2x it's base price. Yes, it can be expensive but with a high (80+) barter skill you'll have the income to cover such repair bills and still gain caps like crazy.

Spoiler
If you have a high sneak use Major Knight to repair all your gear. Then get behind him, quicksave your game, then pickpocket your caps back. Bringing back all those near broken 12.7mm SMGs from Zion allows you to become filthy rich with some effort.

To be honest, I never thought of pickpocketing him. And he's the one I go to when I need to repair armor on a character without JR. Thanks for the great idea :)

That's assuming you didn't wipe out the White Legs like I did with Sneering Imperialist. All of the White Legs are perma-dead for me, no respawns, no second chances. The best way to make money for me now is by killing Super Mutants and repairing their Super Sledges up with Fiends Pool Cues and Baseball Bats. The problem is getting a 1:1 max caps output from a merchant. I can bankrupt most merchants instantly which means I have to spend the excess in store (usually buying ammo) in order to get my caps worth.

I'm barely maintaining a 20,000 - 30,000 Caps balance at any time, and buying missiles for Nuke It From Orbit isn't cheap, especially when the explosives still don't function properly, so only a direct hit counts. Worse still, this explosives glitch even affects the Heavy Incinerator (one of my favorite guns ever), making Just Point And Click ridiculous as well.

People who have infinite money are lucky, I wish I did.
